Rio 2016 will have pro boxers, says AIBA boss - Yahoo Sports
Bit ridiculous considering the original Olympic creed. But on the bright side decent action for us to see.

They will be all lining up for gold..

It's a liberty for the amateurs travelling all over the shop trying to qualify.
But on the flipside when you have bods like Pac and Wlad saying they'll enter to win gold for their country, it does make it strangely appealing
3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.
Boxing will survive of course, but the Olympics were headed to eventual ruin anyway.
What's another nail in the coffin.
Can see the pros getting some gift decisions if they end up going. Apart from the heavies cant see the pros beating top amateurs.
100% Im assuming Pac would fight at welterweight and I think Toledo the Cuban at that class would school him over 3 rounds.
Most of the arguments Ive heard against it are that its dangerous for the young amateur fighters to be fighting experienced pros but I disagree, of course there are a few young amateurs but there are plenty of experienced ones too who have chosen never to go pro for one reason or another. Its 3 rounds and refs use standing 8 counts regularly so I say it is perfectly safe for both sets of fighters. Also "amateur" is not a correct term for most of them. Fighters get paid by WSB and APB and most serious fighters are all full time boxers with no other jobs.
I also ask the question of what weight the pros will fight at. For instance Canelo, could he realistically make the light middle or middle weight weight the days of the fights and still be competitive? The next step up for him is the 81kg class against a guy like Joe Ward or Julio LaCruz I wouldnt give him a hope.
For the record Im against pros fighting in the comp but because I think itll make a mockery of pro boxing when they get outshone by the "amateurs".
It is disgraceful that the Olympics is allowing this to happen as it goes against everything it stands for. They are pampering to millionaire professionals vanity and I will be watching with absolute disdain.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Pro surfing ,pro golfing, its all on the cards now.
Someone will have to reinvent something world wide just for amateurs again.
In the Olympics they have to weigh in on the day of the fight dont they?
That would mess with many pros talents as its an art form if given a day or more to rehydrate and beef it on way above the limit.
