I think Kovalev will have a hard time early on but will settle in due to his power and being comfortable with the weight.

Andre will have to be on his bike and/or tie up the entire time he's not throwing punches

I see ward using his elusive boxing skills to beat kovalev in a decision.

I then see ward beating the degale vs jack winner at 175 or catch weight.

I then see ward beating GGG at a catchweight of 170 or 168 in summer 2018 to put a stamp on his pound for pound career.

This scenario is entirely plausible, but I think you're being a bit optimistic with the Summer 2018 call.

Taking Ward's current level of activity into account, it will be more like Summer 2032!

Kovalev is a beast but ward is special..major upset if ward does loose and I will happily say the best man won...if a 50 year old Hopkins takes kovalev 12 rounds then imagine what a prime ward will do.

Ward is back and not going anywhere..

Ward will shine again and win by comfortable decision with a few rocky moments in between.

I'll take Kovalev dominating a ring legend in Hopkins over Ward snoozing to 12 over a blown up unknown spr middleweight any day of the week . For sure Ward will try to sharp shoot Kovalev but I think he'll be surprised by his physicality and jab. If Kovalev boxes I see him taming Ward after hurting him and winning. Honestly have not seen Ward shine in years and he is being hit more often now. Damn fine match up!

    Ward being hit more often?!

    When was this?!

His entry into the 175 division has been perfect..elusive and still sharp.

Elusive yes . Guy became the invisible man a bit. Barrera hit him more often than should have with jabs, even Brand with errant ugly shots.

That's the way I see it. 8-4 rounds for Ward.

Way back I voted Kov by TKO, but that's my heart speaking. Realistically, I see more of a probability of Ward using his slick boxing skills (plus every trick in the book) to confound Kov, steal rounds, pot shot from far away.... and end up winning a frustrating decision by right around that margin.

I'll be hoping for Kov to KTFO Ward, though.

IF, and it is a big IF, Ward is as good as he was in his prime, the way this fight goes could surprise people. I think Ward will work on the inside a lot and play rough and a bit dirty . he will be stronger than people think, there won't be any size issues.
by the same context , Kov will probably prove he's a better boxer than he is given credit for. So people who think this is "beast fighter" versus "technical boxer" are selling it short a little bit.
I've based my pick on Ward being professional enough to be in prime shape, and I reckon he'll spoil enough of Kovalev's work to win on points.
I could be very wrong though and that's what makes this fight so intriguing.

With all of the struggles boxing has had matchmaking the best possible fights.. I find myself rooting for whatever result is best for boxing... I'm going for Kovalev TKO Round 10.

If Ward wins... We'll be waiting another 2 years before he does anything noteworthy...

I keep saying this but before his layoff, I say ward takes it very comfortably. Now, I still think he wins but will struggle a decent amount.
