When James Toney was at heavyweight I kind of wanted to see him and Tyson fight even though Tyson was well beyond his best.
The fact that Tyson was beyond his best was the only thing that made it competitive. I think the Toney that stopped Holyfield would have beaten Tyson too a that time.
Very true, but Toney's actual style was good to combat the style Tyson had. Tyson's best punches were hooks, uppercuts, and the 1-2 he threw didn't have length on it, quick but no length and with Toney's shell defense being so good (on his day) the rolling and countering would have been a sight to see.

I like the style matchup it's like Hatton-Mayweather but in a phonebooth, no running all over the gigantic ring Floyd had. Credit to Floyd, but Toney aint' putting in that roadwork lol.
Strangely Tyson did very well against short stocky fighters like himself Frazier, Matthis and Ettienne.

Not really defensive masters that lot ....but I get you.

    Back on topic...

What fighters do you think would trouble Ward & Calzaghe if any? Floyd Patterson maybe? BIG dude for 175, great power there too. Archie Moore. Rocky Marciano was just about their size too a cruiserweight fight vs Ward or Calzaghe? Bob Foster?

At light heavy and cruiserweight the greats would be too big for them.

Roy Jones prime would give them hell and beat them at super middleweight.

B Hop would give them problems.

    Ezzard Charles gives both fits.

I look at how Reid was able to counter Joe and just feel Rooney does much worse. At their best that's a super fight.

Ward would make it ugly and dirty and depending on what he's allowed to get away with would dictate the outcome.
