Be interested to see how they fill out the card. Surely they have to playing catchup with cards as the Mayweather carnival on Showtime ppv is going to eclipse the Cotto fight the same night on regular HBO. Odd when you think about it that Linares some 15+ years in will be on it's air for the very first time.
For what limited budget they have now HBO are making some strange decisions. I don't think there'll be much of an undercard for this one. As far as the main event goes I can't get over Campbell getting beaten by Mendy was it. He looked like a little boy. He hasn't operated at anything like the level Linares has. Add on the fact he's away from home and I don't fancy his chances too much.

Yeah what's with Eddie Hearn getting his fighters asses kicked by Jorge Linares. He must love Hearn giving him these easy paydays.

luke is still work in progress and nowhere near ready for this level. I can understand them needing to let him off the leash sooner or later but it's not that long ago he was fighting Derry Mathews. He got dropped and beat by Mendy and the battle of hull vs Tommy coyle is a far cry from what he'll be up against with Linares especially away from home.

Brave move but early prediction is that if you stay up to watch this in the middle of the night don't expect a glorious away from home win for the Brit. It'll be worth watching if you admire the silky smooth skills of the champ but if not catch it on the Sunday morning replay instead

there's a lot of quality in this fight isn't there

perhaps more than it is given credit for, may even be going under the radar a bit

Yeah it's a shame but there are quite a few big fights coming up that are stealing the attention at the minute

    Fuck it, I predict Campbell pulls the upset here, by early-ish stoppage too. (6/1 ko / rds 1-6 14/1 / rd 1 125/1 / rd 2 90/1 rd 3 70/1)

Campbell has the length, speed, movement, jab and whipping left hand clump to give Linares something completely different to what he's been used to fighting in the last couple of years.

Linares (one of my fav fighters of the last 10 years) positives and weaknesses go without saying but he'll always be an off night away from defeat.

Campbell will enjoy a nice height advantage. Winner is mandated to face Mikey.

I hope you're right, but I can't help thinking this is just part of the build up to Linares fighting Mikey Garcia (which would also be a good scrap.)

I forgot about this fight with La Motta dying, Hughie v Parker, Andre Ward retiring and Rio Ferdinand taking up boxing.

If Campbell pulls this off, for me it will be up there with any away win you care to mention. I cant help feeling he's going to get battered. Whats Campbell like with the social media stuff? Linares has been all over the place posting vids looking a million dollars, but Campbell (maybe I'm not following the right people) appears to have been silent. I cant work out if that's a good thing or bad these days.

It's in the title HBO and it appears Sky also. Replays on Sunday morning HBO also.

Big disappointment with co main event being totally scrapped at last minute. #1 ranked..numero uno..140lb Antonio Orozco was set to face Roberto Ortiz but both came in overweight! FFS how and why does this happen so often now and how do you NOT know in Orozcos case that you are seven pounds over It's beyond unprofessional and a helluva way to blow prime network exposure.

the cynical fight fan in me says someone got another offer. Ok maybe he's just a fat slacker . Plenty of room for replay of Golovkin vs Canelo now is anyone wants to stomach that pill again. I finally get to see the fight.

Ortiz missed the weight too. Wasn't Orozco pulled from his fight with Fidel Maldonado last year as well due to dehydration? Pretty obvious he needs to move up.

It happens so often now because people realized how much of an advantage it is to become really good at cutting weight.

Years ago people trained to make weight. Nobody wants to make weight now. They want to be far bigger than the weight, cut weight, pile it all back on immediately.

Think of Brook/Spence and how often those two talked about how big they are. Because they are 175-180 between fights. They are 147 for 20 minutes 30 hours before they fight.
