So sadly it's some of what we've come to expect. WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman has assured Ortiz that there is no suspension due to failed VADA testing and he'll indeed retain his ranking. This is the same alphabet group that was railing about cleaning up the sport regarding banned substances and in the same breath retains Luis Nery as bantamweight champion after he also failed VADA testing. Sulaiman made a personal point to support Nery and does not believe "he was doping" because Nery "appears to be a clean young man and shows it" . Cue the blaming of contaminated meat again.

Meanwhile the WBA has all but cast out Ortiz with year long suspension and dropping him completely from the rankings. Wbc..not so much. Wasn't the whole point of VADA to have a uniformed process and determination to stamp out illegal and banned substances regardless of fighter affiliation or where they choose to eat a steak? If there is no consistency within the sanctioning bodies when it comes to VADA..we're talking dirty/not dirty not actual worthiness of rankings..what is the point? Or do they need to streamline the testing process and what constitutes an illegal substance. Lets face it, what do we eat today or self medicate with that is 100 percent 'chemical' free? If you're Wilder here what do you do. I lean towards telling Ortiz to piss up a rope about a proposed match but now any champion can essentially have a obvious failed cheat forced on them or risk being stripped. More and more I want Wilder to do a Riddick Bowe and drop that glorified paperweight into the nearest garbage can.
