    Default Hand injuries

I was just wondering why some boxers(Floyd Joe Calzaghe etc) are so prone to hand injuries? Is it how they throw the punch or where they throw for example Floyd always lands those short stright ones on the top of the head! Also, what is a way of limiting hand injuries?

Its a mixture of how and were. To limit it... wear a good pair of gloves, punch correctly and wear raps (they're was a guide in the usefull link sticky in this thread but its gone... I'll try and dig it up later on.

For a long time I had a rash ofhand injuries and just assumed that that pain was a part of it all. Now I basically have two knuckles on each hand; the index and middle knuckles, no others. Land your punches on the big knuckles. And don't half step; always work sharp and punch through your target. Other than...uh..."boxing" outside the ring, the majority of my problems came while playing as I hit the bags.

I had 3 knuckles on my right hand before I started... certain things aren't ment to be punched :P index and middle knuckels have always been OK.

Hurt some times after a really hard session but thats mainly the skin.

i land on the 3 knuckle zone this has never been a problem for me. to land on the other knuckles would break up my power line at the wrist and weaken my pop as a result.

I've gotta admit, I only wear them when I compete... I've either got a strong wrist or weak punches...

my hands hurt on impact with the bag, but i havent been doin it long. it kinda prevents me from throwing all my power at the bag. iv heard that your hands toughen up and stop hurting after a while.

Hitman Try using a lighter bag ,perhaps your bag is to high bags are more solid at the bottom. feel it before you go on it. Dont try knocking it out, because tomorrow the bag will still be their, with bad hands you won;t

I always had weak hands - I could box quite well, hold may own, do everything pretty well - buti would fuck my hand up each and every time.

I'm about 5'4, 147lbs (used to box it, heavier now lol)- broken every finger I've got, dislocated and cracked knuckles. I've got spindly wimpy little hands and they just break all the time.

I used proper wraps, punched technically correctly, but they just snapping like little twiglets.
