Any concerns that Ricky Hattonʼs health is a problem at the moment were dispelled today as members of the media were invited to a training session of 'The Hitman' at Billy ʽThe Preacherʼ Grahamʼs Training Camp in Denton, Manchester, England.

Looking relaxed, Hatton - wearing hooded sweatshirt over sweat-top over tshirt and shorts - took to the ring. Shadowboxing around the canvas, he looked ʽsharpʼ and ʽquickʼ on his feet.

Billy Graham then stepped in to the ring and donning the huge black body-belt, the trainer braced himself for another gruelling session with 'The Hitman'.

Proving heʼd not lost his usual cheeky charm - Hatton occasionally ʽshovesʼ Graham back against the ropes and even the serious looking ʽPreacherʼ canʼt help but laugh at the antics! More...

"Two World Championships...One Night"

Monday in New York City, Top Rank held a press conference to announce “Two World Championships…One Night” which features WBA Welterweight Champion, Miguel Cotto, 31-0 (25), against Contender star, Alfonso Gomez, 18-3-2 (8). The co-feature will be the highly anticipated rematch between IBF Welterweight Champion, Kermit Cintron, 29-1 (27), who will look to avenge his only loss against Antonio Margarito, 35-5 (25). Both championships will take place on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ .

Top Rank’s Bob Arum spoke highly of the fighters participating in the championship doubleheader, “It’s truly a privilege for me to be able to announce this outstanding card, I truly believe that the welterweight division is the best division in boxing," he said. "Because the people in it come to fight, not pose, not hold out their arm and are afraid to get hit, not do a dance that they practice on 'Dancing with the Stars', but guys who come to fight.”

Arum also spoke for his fighter Antonio Margarito, who did not attend the press conference, “I represent the challenger, the former WBO Champion is never in a bad fight. He fought Kermit Cintron a number of years ago, won that fight and hopes to repeat on April 12. One thing about Tony is he is always in a good fight, he is the consummate warrior and he will give his best on April 12.”

Kermit Cintron is eager to erase the images of his 2005 loss to Margarito, “I’ve been waiting for this fight for the longest time finally getting my opportunity to avenge my loss," he said. "I thank Bob Arum to have the balls to put Margarito in front of me on April 12th.” More...

Eight-Time World Champion, Roy Jones, Jr. 51-4 (38) laughed as the media sang happy birthday to him as he celebrated his 39th birthday today at Kingsway Boxing Gym in New York City in preparation for Saturday’s “Bring on the Titans” boxing card at Madison Square Garden where he will face Felix Trinidad 42-2 (35).

Jones has a special gift in mind, “The best birthday present for me would be a knock out on Saturday night. Tito’s fighting the toughest fight of his career. He picked me to get up for this fight. He knows I’m a guy who normally beats him so he knows what type of shape he’s got to get in to step into the ring with me.”

“Ain’t nobody got the speed to handle me. Only Floyd Mayweather comes close to me and he’s still 10 miles an hour slower,” said Jones as he put on an impressive display on the hand pads. More...

Five-Time World Champion, Felix “Tito” Trinidad, 42-2 (35), was in good spirits as he was interviewed and performed some shadowboxing. He joked as he danced around the ring pointing towards the canvas indicating that is where his opponent Roy Jones, Jr. would be when they face each other on Saturday.

Tito would tell the press, “I will carry my punch to 170 pounds. I feel strong at this weight. My hands are ready as they have always been. When I catch him, he will feel my power. I have been training for six months to make sure when I step in the ring I will be at my best. I wanted to fight at this weight and I feel stronger today than I have ever felt. Boxing Weigh-in: Mayweather Vs Hatton

This Weigh-in at the MGM Grand Arena - 5 or 6 thousand British Fans packed in to the tiered seats to support Ricky Hatton as he weighed in ahead of tomorrow nights Main Event.

I heard that some fans had tried to camp out over night at the door of the Garden Area but were sent away till morning by Security. There were rumoured to be fans arriving as early as 6.00 am this morning to ensure they had a good seat at the weighin.
When I arrived at the entrance of the Garden Arena at 11.30 am they had just opened the doors to allow fans in the arena early (as there were too many blocking the area outside the doors!).

The seating quickly filled up with fans. You can always rely on Ricky Hatton fans to sing and cheer and today they were in fine form. The ‘Band’ arrived to prompt the singing and it wasn’t long before there developed a fantastic ‘party’ atmosphere in the arena.

The atmosphere was like nothing we had ever witnessed before! I felt immensely proud to be British and so lucky to be present at such a fantastic occasion. The band played continuously, the fans sang, cheered, yelled, and clapped continuously. More...

On Tuesday once the media questioning at the MGM arena had ended, Saddoboxing was fortunate to go along and watch Ricky train at his base in Las Vegas.

The gym, though small - had everything Team Hatton needed and it was clear that they definitely ‘felt at home’ there. A floor-level ‘ring’ and numerous work-out machines along with friendly welcoming hosts - made for a great work-place.

Ricky spent time training in the ring with Billy and the ‘other’ regular training partner - the black body-belt that Billy wears! Fast and aggressive - he punched away at the ‘belt’ sometimes forcing Billy back against the ropes. More...

Bad Blood Grudge Match Reaches Boiling Point In LA

Vargas And Mayorga Make Weight, Cintron vs. Feliciano on the Undercard

The ten year career of Fernando Vargas will come to a close tonight in a bad blood bout that could even eclipse the raw hate on display during the lead up to the Oscar De La Hoya fight in 2003.

Yesterday, Vargas, 26-4 (22), and wild man opponent Ricardo Mayorga, 28-6-1 (23), of Nicaragua had to separated by a wall of plexiglass at the official weigh-in but nonetheless continued their rolling, spite filled feud.

Both men scaled a career high 164 lb in preparation for their Showtime PPV bout at Los Angeles' Staples Center and that will likely become an advantage for the bigger Vargas, who was listless when having to make the light middle limit twice in title fight losses to Shane Mosley last year.

Mayorga has achieved his biggest successes at welterweight, wins against Vernon Forrest and Andrew Lewis, by blitzing opponents with his roundhouse punching style.

That hasn't worked so well at higher weights where Mayorga was gunned down at light middle by Oscar De La Hoya and at middleweight by Felix Trinidad. More...

Today at Billy 'The Preacher’ Graham’s Phoenix Camp Gym in Manchester, England, members of the media gathered for the final attended training and interview session before Team Hatton fly out to Las Vegas next week ahead of the much anticipated fightnight billed as ‘Undefeated’ where 'The Hitman' faces ‘Pretty Boy' Floyd Mayweather on December 8.

The gym soon became packed with photographers and film crews cramming for a spot around the ring. The three American sparring partners for Matthew and Ricky Hatton arrived ahead of 'The Hitman'. They would also be training in the gym today. Two of the American men, Karl Dargan and Rock Allen, are fighting on Saturday in Atlantic City.

Billy Graham arrived last, I don’t think he likes all the pre-fight media hype, and didn’t look too keen on getting into the ring as it was surrounded by photographers!

Ricky and Matthew both got into the ring. Ricky was wearing a sweat suit and t-shirts. Both men began to shadow-box around the ring until Billy joined them, then Matthew looked in great form as he worked the pads with Billy. More...
