Last night, at the Nottingham Trent Arena in England, on a Hennessy Sports promoted fight night - Carl ʽThe Cobraʼ Froch won the WBC Super Middleweight title by unanimous points decision, defeating Canadian Jean Pascal in what was a ʽfantasticʼ twelve rounds of boxing.
The first few rounds sees Froch ʽfeel the forceʼ of Pascalʼs speed and strength, but he kept focussed against the counter-punching Montreal man, whipping out the jab to win the title on scores of 116-112, 117-111 and 118-110.
There was a total of four ʽtitleʼ bouts last night which also included a 10 round light heavyweight English title clash between local man Rod Anderton and Norwich boxer Danny McIntosh. But it was a short nightʼs work for McIntosh, who floored Anderton inside the first half of round one. More...

Yesterday at the Victoria Shopping Centre in Nottingham, England, Hennessy Sports hosted the official weigh-in for tonight's fight night which headlines the clash between local man Carl 'The Cobra' Froch and Canadian Jean Pascal for the WBC Super Middleweight title.
The upper floor balconies of the shopping mall were lined with supporters cheering on their home boy. Froch was quiet and stony faced as he stepped up to the scales, weighing in at 11 stone 12 lb and 9 ounces/166.5 pounds.
Montreal based Pascal looked more relaxed and enjoyed 'winding' the crowd up. He weighed in at 11 stone 13 lb and 10 ounces/167.75 pounds. More...

As well as the Oscar De La Hoya vs. Manny Pacquiao mega matchup in Las Vegas, there's a big night of british action tonight.
In what could be the bout of the evening, Nottingham's Carl Froch has home advantage on his side when he faces tough Canadian Jean Pascal for the vacant WBC Super Middleweight title.
Froch is undefeated in 23 contests and Pascal is also undefeated, winning all 21 of his fights. Between them, both men have scored 33 knockouts.
For Froch, this has been a long road to his big chance. Often too good for his own future prospects, Froch ,now aged 31, has had to bide his time while rival Joe Calzaghe has had the limelight.
