There was some great undercard action on Friday night at the Harvey Hadden Sports Complex, Nottingham.
Dale Miles (Alfreton) v Janis Chernouskis (Latvia)
6 Round Welterweight Contest
Miles gets off to a fast start and Chernouskis spends much of his time covering up. Within seconds – the Latvian's face has already reddened from the punches. It’s a nice display of boxing from the Shinfield's fighter who pressures his opponent in the corner mid-way through this first round.
Landing left and right hooks and decent body-shots, Miles dominates. Sky Sports Stats reveal that Miles has thrown 33 punches in the opener as opposed to 6 from Chernouskis. More...

Last night the Harvey Hadden Sports Complex in Nottingham, England, promoter Frank Maloney hosted a fight night headlined by 'Boxing Binman' Rendall Munroe’s fifth defence of his European Super Bantamweight title.
Facing Italy's Simone ‘Boom Boom’ Maludrottu, this could be Munroe's toughest test, but winning this contest may propel him to a much deserved world title fight.
The atmosphere inside the venue was fantastic! Munroe always enjoys big crowd support and last night was no exception as a sea of fluorescent ‘bin-man-style’ tabards greeted him as he entered the ring. More...

Yesterday at the Gateway Hotel in Nottingham, England, promoter Frank Maloney hosted the official weigh-in ahead of tonight's European super bantamweight title clash between reigning champion Rendall Munroe and former European bantam titlist and WBC world title challenger Simone Maludrottu.
Proceedings went smoothly and quickly. The two men quietly took turns weighing in and both posed for the obligatory ‘face-off’ photographs. As you would expect from these two boxers - there was no goading or verbal onslaught from either man.
Munroe looked in fantastic shape and was calm and relaxed throughout.
Weights were as follows:
European super bantamweight championship, 12 rounds
Rendall Munroe: 8 stone 10 pounds/122 lb
Simone Maludrottu: 8 stone 9 and a quarter pounds/121.25 lb More...

Today at the Gateway Hotel in Nottingham, England, promoter Frank Maloney hosted a press conference ahead of Friday's fight night at the Harvey Hadden Leisure Centre, in which Leicester binman Rendall Munroe will defend his European super bantamweight title for the fifth time.
Munroe's opponent, former European bantamweight champion and WBC title challenger Simone ‘Boom Boom’ Maludrottu of Italy arrived in England yesterday and sat at today's press conference alongside his trainer.
Unable to speak English, Maludrottu answered questions via an interpreter, who sat between Maludrottu and his trainer.
A confident Munroe sat alongside his team of Jason and Mike Shinfield. Munroe's good friend and British super bantam champion Jason Booth was on hand to offer support as were Munroe's stablemates, light heavyweight Ovill McKenzie and light welter Scott Haywood, who also fight on Friday's bill. Saturday night at the York Hall in Bethnal Green, London, England, Hennessy Sports promoted a fight night headlined by the British Light Heavyweight title clash between Commonwealth Champion Nathan Cleverly and English Champion Danny McIntosh.
Cleverly of Cefn Forest, Wales, enters the ring first, clearly enjoying the atmosphere of the York Hall.
Confident McIntosh jumps over the top rope and in to the ring, striding over to Cleverly before being stopped by referee Howard Foster.
Obviously very ‘fired-up’, McIntosh goads "Clev" from his corner position until trainer Brendan Ingle steps in front of him to keep him back. More...

A big light heavyweight showdown took place tonight at London's York Hall with Nathan Cleverly emerging as the new British champion after defeating Danny McIntosh.
Already the Commonwealth titlist, Cleverly had one last obstacle to clear in the form of English belt holder McIntosh in order to begin the long climb to the world stage.
And clear it he did, but not without an argument from the Norwich based brawler.
Cleverly immediately looked the classier fighter once the bell rang as he was quicker than McIntosh and took advantage of the almost non existent defense of his rival. More...

Last night at Oasis Leisure Centre in Swindon, England, two of the top light heavyweights in the UK saw action but had very different results.
Commonwealth kingpin Nathan Cleverly, 15-0 (5), continued to show excellent form while destroying big puncher Samson Onyango, 18-4 (12), of Kenya in a single round.
Onyango, nicknamed "The Hammer" came into the bout with the reputation of being a danger man but it was the sharply-skilled 21 year old Welshman Cleverly who landed the bombs to end the night early.
Cleverly has now retained his title for the second time, achieving a knockout result in both instances.
Current British and former Commonwealth Light Heavyweight Champ Dean Francis, 30-3-1 (24), had a much harder time as he was held to a draw after eight rounds in a non-title bout at cruiserweight by former British Masters Super Middleweight titlist Joey Vegas, 11-4-1 (4). More...

Friday night at the Watford Colosseum in Watford, England, World Sports Organisation promoter Jon Feld hosted a fight night headlined by the 10 round light heavyweight contest between Gary "JJ" Ojuederie and Joey Vegas.
This was to be 28 year old Ojuederie's first defence of the Southern Area Light Heavyweight title, having won the belt on points against Andrew Lowe in May of this year.
26 year old native Ugandan Vegas, of Tottenham, was looking to ʽbreakʼ his losing streak after being defeated in his last three contests. The Friday fight night was to be a real ʽfamily-affairʼ as brothers JJ and Daley Ojuederie both featured as well as their step-brother Ojay Abrahams. More...
