O’Shaquie Foster and Raymond Ford Make Weight as Houston World Title Clash Nears
The hard part is done. The talking is almost over.
WBC World Super Featherweight champion O’Shaquie Foster and challenger Raymond Ford both hit the championship limit ahead of Saturday night’s showdown at the Fertitta Center in Houston, Texas.
Foster stepped onto the scales at 130lbs, with Ford matching him exactly at 130lbs.
There were no last-minute weight concerns and no drama at the scales, but once the microphones appeared both men made it clear they expect to leave Houston with the victory.
Foster and Ford Exchange Final Words
Ford looked relaxed throughout the weigh-in and wasn’t interested in making a long speech.
“Nothing to say except I’m ready. I’m not emotional. Tomorrow we settle this shit. I’m ready. I’m gonna win. I can stop him or outpoint him. I’m gonna do whatever I want. I promise you.”
The former featherweight world champion appeared calm and focused, carrying himself like a man who believes the move up in weight will bring out the best version of himself.
Champion Foster was equally confident and promised to meet Ford head-on.
“It’s time. I’m coming straight to him. I’m ready. He’s a little boy. I’m gonna dominate and show you all my levels. I’m the truth and I’m gonna show them. Weight was made easy and I’m excited and ready.”
Despite the sharp words, neither fighter looked rattled. If anything, both seemed comfortable with the spotlight and ready for the challenge.
Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn summed it up best, describing Foster vs Ford as a genuine 50-50 fight.
Hearn also noted that Ford appeared particularly relaxed during the weigh-in proceedings.
“Ray seemed more chilled and calm today. They both looked cool and calm and this is what boxing needs.”
It’s hard to disagree. Too many top-level fights never get beyond social media debates. This one actually got made.

Final Thoughts
The weigh-in didn’t produce any fireworks, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
Ford looked cool, Foster looked confident, and both men made weight without issue. Now all that’s left is the fight itself.
Ford believes he can become a two-division world champion. Foster believes he’s about to remind everyone why he’s one of boxing’s most underrated champions.
One way or another, we’ll get the answer on Saturday night in Houston.
