Today, at the Radisson Edwardian Hotel in Manchester, England media gathered to hear David Haye and Adam Booth confirm Haye’s first defence of his Heavyweight Crown will be against Mandatory Challenger – American – John Ruiz, at the MEN Arena on the 3rd April.

Unfortunately, Ruiz failed to show at todays’ press conference. Haye – who said he had paid for first class flights and a great hotel for him did not know why Ruiz had stayed away.

Branding Ruiz a ‘boring person’- he did suggest that perhaps ‘The Quiet Man’ didn’t want to spend time away from intensive training, but Haye had not been given an official reason.

Trainer Booth did not underestimate Ruiz – referring to him as a ‘Massive Banana-skin’ in Haye’s plans – while Haye himself added that Ruiz ‘grinds people down’.

The Hayemaker – who broke a bone in his hand during the Valuev fight – said his hand was fine now and that he would be ‘testing it out’ on Ruiz’s face.

Haye – excited about the prospect of boxing at the MEN – will be training in the UK ‘despite the cooler weather’ he added.

Haye vs. Ruiz will be live on Sky Sports on April 3rd (Easter Weekend) at the MEN Arena, Manchester.
