Boxing brothers Martin and Steve Gethin will have another gruelling weekend this week, but nothing to do with boxing! The two Walsall men are running in this year’s Virgin London Marathon on Sunday.
The London Marathon – now in it’s 30th year – is one of the top five Marathon events in the world and last year attracted some 36,000 runners raising in excess of £40 Million for Charity.
The two Gethin Brothers are running to raise money for Cancer Research after their mother tragically died from Breast Cancer four years ago.
Neither men have run in a marathon before but both train hard for their boxing and this week they are ‘packing carbs’ into their diet.
Martin has just added another victory to his boxing record having outpointed Jon Baguley on Friday night, but now he’s concentrating on his legs – not his fists – as he prepares for Sunday.
Running is all part of the boxing duo’s training anyway, but the streets of London will be a far cry from the roads of Walsall!
