Hennessy Boxing: Murray vs. Kudriatsev For European Title

After making his pro debut 7 years ago this September, Manchester’s European and British Lightweight Champion John Murray is looking to continue his unbeaten record when he meets his mandatory challenger and the Ukrainian number one, Andrei Kudriavtsev at Robin Park Arena, Wigan on Saturday 25th September.

Matchroom Sport and Hennessy Sports will promote the 12 round European title fight which will be shown live on Sky Sports HD1 from 9pm.

25th Year old Murray who defended both his titles against the brave and talented Welshman Gary Buckland last May is trying not to look past Kudriavtsev but believes he will have to be at his best to defend his perfect unbeaten record and keep the prestigious EBU belt around his waist.

“Both myself and Joe have watch tapes and studied Andrei’s style, he looks tough, likes using the body shots but then again most of the fighters from that part of the world are very good. He will be coming over here looking for a major win to launch himself on the World stage. He is not here just to make up the numbers.”

“Training has all gone well, I’m feeling great and I’m ready to show that I’m the best lightweight in Europe.”John added. The Mancunian is hoping once he has taken his record to 30 – 0 it will catapult him on to the world stage.

“Once I have beaten Kudriavtsev I’m hoping to get a world title shot against the winner of the Katsidis vs. Marquez fight, and of course I would love that to be staged at the MEN arena.” Man City fan Murray added.

On the exciting undercard, former WBC title challenger Albert Sosnowski, Prize-fighter winner Price Arron, former Commonwealth champion Paul Truscott, former British title challenger Josh Wale and hot prospects, Kid Galahad, Joe Murray and Phill Fury will all be back in action.

Tickets for this great night of boxing at the Robin Park Arena, Wigan are ON SALE NOW and can be purchased from the Matchroom Sport Box Office on 01277 359900. Tickets are £30 for unreserved seats and £60 for Ringside.
