It was the ‘Night of the Debutants’ on Friday, as Steve Wood / VIP Promotions (in association with CJP) hosted a seven card bill at the Robin Park Arena, Wigan – six of which were debuts for local boxers.
The main event of the night was a Title contest between Chris Johnson and William Warburton for the vacant Area Welterweight Belt.
Kevin Satchell (Liverpool) v Delroy Spencer (Wolverhampton)

‘Satch’ notches up his first pro win on points over experienced Spencer, who drops to 11 wins (1 by KO) 106 losses (12 by KO) 3 draws.
Chris Betteridge (Wigan) v Sean Gorman (Aberystwyth, Wales)
4 x 3 Welterweight Contest
It was a close first contest for Betteridge, who secured a points win by a single digit over Welshman Gorman. Gorman drops to 2 losses (no wins).
Luke Blackledge (Accrington) v Stuart Tordoff (Birmingham)
4 x 3 Light-Heavyweight Contest
‘Robbo’ Blackledge wins his first contest by TKO round 5, while Tordoff gets a second loss (no wins).
Terry Needham (Liverpool) v Joe Smith (Swansea, Wales)

Needham notches up his first pro-win with a TKO over Welshman Smith. Despite the early cut to the left brow – Needham had Smith on the canvas from a right to the head in the third frame. Needham wins by third round TKO. Smith drops to 0 wins 3 losses (2 by KO).
