Boxing Weights: Konstantin Airich vs. Gbenga Oloukun

ByBoxing Press 11/11/2010

Right before the weigh-in promoter Ahmet Öner changed the main event for tomorrow’s “Battle at the Baltic Sea“ again.

German heavyweight contender Konstantin “Sandman“ Airich (16-2-2) will face Gbenga “Bang Bang“ Oloukun (18-6-0) instead of Levan Jomardashvili from Georgia (20-1). The last-minute replacement became necessary when unbeaten Turk Yakup Saglam (26-0) pulled out of the fight on short notice.

“Although Jomardashvili has got a better record I am convinced that Bang Bang will be a tougher test for Konstantin“, states Öner. “We know that he comes to fight. Last year he beat Lamon Brewster when he wasn’t supposed to win so he is quite a dangerous opponent – especially given the short time we had to find somebody. Still I believe that Konstantin will take home the win. He is extremely focused and all fired up.“

Airich weighed-in at 101,0 kg (223 lbs.) while Oloukun brought 108,0 kg (238 lbs.) to the scale.

The other weights:
Özlem Sahin (48,0 kg / 106 lbs.) vs. Fleis Djendji (50,0 kg / 110 lbs.)
Mike Keta (arrives tomorrow) vs. Mihalij Halas (73,0 kg / 161 lbs.)
Murat Öner (76,0 kg / 167,5 lbs.) vs. Andy Thiele (75,0 kg / 165 lbs.)
Domenic von Chrzanowski (75,0 kg / 165 lbs.) vs. Thomas Freitag (arrives tomorrow)
Azad Azizov (60,0 kg / 132 lbs.) vs. Kakhaber Avetisian (61,1 kg / 135 lbs.)
Michael Schubov (70,0 kg / 154 lbs.) vs. Rafael Bejaran (73,0 kg / 161 lbs.)
Erkan Teper (102,0 kg / 225 lbs.) vs. Alexander Kahl (arrives tomorrow)

The show starts Friday night at 6.30pm, Eurosport broadcasts live starting at 8.25pm (German time).
