WBC Boxing News: Dr . Sulaiman Mourns Passing Of Rodrigo Salud

From the office of WBC President Dr. José Sulaimán:

We have received bad news from the Philippines: our friend and former colleague at the WBC, Mr. Rodrigo Salud has passed away. Mr. Salud was the Executive Secretary of the World Boxing Council in the early 60s when Justiniano Montano of the Philippines was the President of the WBC.

WBC President Dr. Jose Sulaiman succeeded Mr. Salud as the Executive Secretary of the WBC when Professor Ramon G. Velazquez became WBC President.

The WBC decreed three days of mourning in the boxing world and sends its condolences to Mr. Salud’s family and friends.

Rodrigo Salud was one of the most distinguished leaders of the World Boxing Council, to whom Mr. Sulaiman referred as his teacher because he managed the WBC administration with efficiency, maturity, and firmness.

When the WBC was frozen during the presidency of Don Luis Spota, Mr. Salud and Mr. Sulaiman continued their friendship until the end, a time during which Salud continued to work with the WBC.

WBC President Sulaiman wishes that this great Philippine’s soul rests in peace and hopes that God will give a prompt resignation to such deep sorrow to his family and boxing and basketball fans, as Mr. Salud was a leader of the sport of basketball for many years.
