This afternoon, at the Town Hall, Manchester, England, media gathered for a Press Conference ahead of Saturday night’s ‘King Khan Returns’ Bill at the MEN Arena, Manchester, when Bolton’s – Amir Khan defends his WBA Light Welterweight Title to Paul McCloskey of Dungiven, Northern Ireland.
The press conference was hosted by promoters of the ‘Bill’, ie. Khan Promotions, Hatton Promotions and Golden Boy, however, it will be remembered largely for the straight-talking of Matchroom Sports’ – Eddie Hearn. There has been some confusion over the past two weeks as to which Television channel would show the event, it was originally to be broadcast live on Sky Box Office, then potentially Sky Sports 3 instead, but is now to be shown live on Primetime PPV in the UK.
Khan’s Challenger – McCloskey, is managed by Matchroom Sport and Mr. Hearn voiced his dissatisfaction today at what he called a ‘shambles’.
Thankfully, both Khan and McCloskey said that they kept out of boxing ‘politics’ and remained focussed on the fight.
