
In Nottingham on Friday night, a five bout fight-card culminated in the surprise defeat of Burton-upon-Trent Boxer – Jonjo Finnegan. Finnegan faced tough slugger – James Tucker of Doncaster who scored a TKO in round two of their scheduled six round Light-Heavyweight Contest.
At Bowlers Exhibition Centre, Manchester, gutsy Irish man – Dean Byrne was forced to retire in the eighth round of his scheduled twelve round Welterweight Contest against Frenchman – Frank Horta. Horta was to have faced Frankie Gavin who pulled out at the last minute. The Steve Wood and Frank Warren promoted fight-night featured ten contests.
Matchroom Sport gave us another entertaining Prizefighter event at York Hall, Bethnal Green, on Saturday. Popular Mongolian man – Choi Tseveenpurev won the eight-man Featherweight tournament, with Rhys Roberts of Manchester the runner up.
In Newport, Wales, local man – Lee Churcher won the vacant British Masters Middleweight Title when he forced the retirement of Swansea’s Chris Brophy. The fight-night featured five contests.
At Don Valley Stadium, Sheffield, Steve Swinburn of Lincoln drew with Isle of Wight’s – Jay Morris in their six round Welterweight Contest.
The Dennis Hobson promoted fight-night featured eight contests.
And finally, Audley Harrison escaped elimination from ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ on Saturday night. The Week 5 show was a ‘Halloween Special’ and Audley was clearly enjoying himself as he jived along to ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ alongside dance partner Natalie Lowe. But – their score of 20 put them at the bottom of the leader board with Nancy Dell’Olio and Anton du Beke. Saved by the Judges, Audley continues on the show.
