Theodore Atlas Charity Dinner This Thursday, November 17

ByBoxing Press 15/11/2011

New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs, Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman and actor Danny Aiello will be among the bevy of sports and entertainment stars joining boxing trainer and ESPN Friday Night Fights analyst Teddy Atlas to lend their support to the 15th Annual Dr. Theodore A. Atlas Dinner on Thursday night, November 17, at the Hilton Garden Inn on Staten Island.

More than 800 local community members and supporters are expected to attend the gala which remembers Teddy’s late, humanitarian father, a Staten Island physician, and continues his good works.

The star-studded list of celebrity supporters expected to be on hand also includes: former Jets head coach Eric Mangini; former Yankees, third baseman Mike Pagliarulo and catcher Rick Cerone; ex Jet standout Bruce Harper; Giants Super Bowl champions Karl Nelson and Sean Landeta; Sopranos characters Tony Sirico and Dan Grimaldi; popular ex-Rangers player and Staten Island native Nick Fotiu.

Former standout boxers Gerry Cooney, Renaldo Snipes, Brian Adams and Iran Barkley; Hall of Fame boxing trainer Lou Duva; sports broadcasters Otis Livingston (CBS2), Rich Ackerman (WFAN/MSG Varsity) and Tony Paige; and Jersey Shore personality and Staten Island native Vinny Guadagnino. Brian Kenny, MLB Network anchor, will join comic Jeff Pirrami, as Masters of Ceremonies.

All proceeds from the evening will go to The Dr. Theodore A. Atlas Foundation, established 15 years ago by boxing trainer and ESPN fights analyst Teddy Atlas.
The Staten Island native created the foundation to honor his late father, who served the community for 55 years as a physician, often working free of charge to assist
families in need.

The dinner serves as the primary fundraiser of the year for the Foundation, allowing the
not-for-profit community service organization to continue providing financial and
emotional support to individuals and organizations in need, focusing particularly on the
needs of children.

“It’s wonderful that we have been able to put on this event for 15 years running now,
and it is an honor to have all of these tremendous athletes, coaches, and other
celebrities involved, who have been willing to give their time and money to support our
cause over many years,” said Atlas. “There is much work to be done – many mouths to

help feed and sick children to help care for – and we are privileged to have the
opportunity to do that important work. We couldn’t do it without the support of all of
these great people who come to the Teddy Dinner.”

This year’s supporters will not only have the chance to mix and mingle with the dozens
of celebrities in attendance at the dinner, but also contribute funds to the foundation
through live and silent auctions. Among the many incredible prizes featured in the
auctions will be a New Year’s Eve Miami getaway package, complete with 14-person
suite to watch the Jets take on the Dolphins, an all-inclusive luxury trip to the Masters in
Augusta, autographed memorabilia from New York sports stars of the past and present,
and much, much more.

Tickets and tables for the event can be purchased via the Foundation’s website, found
at www.dratlasfoundation.com/teddydinner.html, or by calling 718-980-7037.
