In Halifax, Yorkshire, Derby’s – Ovill McKenzie, took just 15 seconds to win the Commonwealth (British Empire) Light Heavyweight Title when he knocked out Welshman – Jeff Evans. The Wayne Carmichael and Frank Warren promoted fight-night featured eight contests.

At Bramall Lane, Sheffield, Glyn Rhodes promoted a fight-night of four contests. The headliner saw local man – Wayne Reed score a second round TKO over Iain Jackson of Brighton.

Alex Morrison promoted a six-fight event at the Gorbals Leisure Centre, Glasgow, which headlined a six round Bantamweight bout between Glasgow man – Jonathan Slowey and Michael Ramabeletsa of South Africa. Slowey won on points.

At Event City, Manchester, Tyson Fury got up off the canvas in the second round to defeat Neven Pajkic by third round TKO. Fury retains the Commonwealth Heavyweight Title.

In Oldham, Ricky Hatton, MBE, made his debut as Trainer to Adam Little. The Hatton Promotions event saw Denton Vassell retain his Commonwealth Welterweight Title by Unanimous Points Decision over Cameroon-born Samuel Colomban.

Watched by many British fight fans this weekend, Manny Pacquiao defeated Juan Manuel Marquez by Majority Decision, in Las Vegas.

At the York Hall, Bethnal Green, Miranda Carter promoted an eight-bout fight-night which headlined the vacant International Masters Welterweight Title contest between Chester’s Chris Goodwin and Wesley Hertoghe of Belgium. Goodwin secured the win on points.

At many of the boxing events this weekend tributes were paid to boxing legend ‘Smokin’ Joe Frazier, who sadly passed away last week. His funeral took place today (15th November) at a private service in Philadelphia.

And, lastly, Audley Harrison has been defeated in the dancing stakes, finally losing out to dancing favourite – Anita Dobson, in BBC’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ on Saturday night. His performance of the Cha-Cha was not well-received by the Judges and he and partner – Natalie Lowe once again found themselves at the bottom of the leader-board. (‘Dancing on Ice’ next, Audley?)
