When WBC Silver welterweight champion Selcuk Aydin takes on Jo Jo Dan on November 26th in Trabzon, Turkey, 25% of the income from ticket sales for the show will be donated for the two devastating earthquakes which destroyed big parts of the east-Turkish region Van in October and November.
“We want to show the people that we care for them“, stated Ahmet Oner on Thursday in Istanbul. “The people in Van suffer badly from the tragedies. It is important to let the world know that these people need help. We can only do our little part but we hope that more people follow our lead.“
On October 23rd a 7.2 earthquake killed more than 600 people in Van, only two and a half weeks later another 5.7 earthquake struck the region close to the Iranian border. Lots of buildings were destroyed and another 100 people have been buried under the ruins.
“Tragedies like that show us that there is more to life than money, sports or business“, adds Don King. “But especially in hard times like this it is more and more important to unite the people and give them something they can enjoy. As I always say, it’s all fort he people. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the victims.“
