Friday night, Manchester’s Matthew ‘Magic’ Hatton made quick work of Londoner – Michael Lomax, by scoring a first round TKO.

Hatton took just a minute and a half of round one to floor Lomax with a body-shot.

The David Coldwell promoted fightnight at Bowlers Exhibition Centre, Manchester, saw eleven contests which included popular Heywood boxer – ‘Vicious’ Kieran Farrell, who outpointed Bulgarian Kristian Dochev over six rounds.

Matthew Hatton (Manchester) v Michael Lomax (Chingford, London)
8 x 3 Welterweight Contest

‘Magic’ hardly drew a breath before the fight was over! A punch to the body sees Lomax halted. Referee Steve Gray administered the count but Lomax could not continue. It probably took Hatton longer to walk to the ring than the one and a half minutes he boxed !

Hatton improves to 43 wins (17 by KO) 6 losses (1 by KO) and 2 draws, while Lomax drops to 18 wins (3 by KO) 5 losses (3 by KO) and 1 drawn

Nasser Al Harbi (Birmingham) v Mark Lloyd (Telford)
6 x 3 Light Middleweight Contest

Both men worked up-close but it was a messy fight between these two with lots of holding. Referee Alvin Finch warned them a few times and Al Harbi was deducted a point in round four for holding but it didn’t prevent him getting the points win (59-57)

Al Harbi improves to 15 wins (2 by KO) 1 loss and 1 draw.

Lloydy drops to 15 wins (3 by KO) 7 losses (2 by KO)

Matty Clarkson (Preston) v Courtney Fry (Liverpool)
6 x 3 Light-Heavyweight Contest

Clarkson had a decent start but was caught in the third round and was ‘wobbled’ by the shot. Fry, who sustained a cut to the left brow, had a good round four and Clarkson – who was caught with another decent shot during the frame looked to have lost energy.

Fry wins on points 59-56 and improves to 18 wins (6 by KO) 3 losses (1 by KO)
Clarkson drops to 7 wins (1 by KO) 1 loss and 2 draws

Kieran Farrell (Heywood, Lancs) v Kristian Dochev (Bulgaria)
6 x 3 Lightweight Contest

Farrell was fired-up as usual and perhaps frustrated that he didn’t manage to stop the Bulgarian. Dochev is grazed under the left eye in the opener then Farrell sustains a cut to the right eye in round two.

Farrell has to settle for a points win 60-54 and improves to 14 wins (3 by KO) no losses.

Dochev drops to 4 wins (1 by KO) 6 losses (1 by KO)

Hosea Burton (Manchester) v James Tucker (Doncaster)
4 x 3 Light Heavyweight Contest

Burton wins on points against ‘Slugger’ Tucker and improves to 5 wins (1 by KO) while Tucker drops to 7 wins (2 by KO) 55 losses (3 by KO) and 3 draws.

Liam Conroy (Barrow-in-Furness) v Dan Blackwell (Trowbridge)
4 x 3 Middleweight Contest

Conroy gets the points win 40-37 and improves to 2 wins (1 by KO) while Blackwell drops to 2 wins and 13 losses.

Anthony Jevons (Liverpool) debut v Pavels Senkovs (Mansfield)
4 x 3 Super-Featherweight Contest

Debutant Jevons had a tough first outing against experienced Senkovs but gets the points win 39-37.

Senkovs record now stands at 2 wins (2 by KO) 49 losses (2 by KO) and 4 draws

Liam Hanrahan (Macclesfield) debut v Blagoy Ivanov debut (Bulgaria)
4 x 3 Super-Bantamweight Contest

Debutant Hanrahan entered the ring alongside trainer and former English Lightweight Champion – Scott Lawton of Stoke-on-Trent.

The Macclesfield man made short work of debutant Ivanov – with Referee Steve Gray jumping in to stop the fight in the opening round.

Hanrahan gets ‘off the mark’ with a first round TKO.

Rhys Roberts (Manchester) v Adrian Fuzesi (Sheffield)
4 x 3 Featherweight Contest

Roberts looked impressive against Hungarian-born Fuzesi dominating from centre of ring while Fuzesi edged around the perimeter. Roberts found success with the body-shots and gets the points win (40-36)
Roberts improves to 16 wins (2 by KO) 2 losses (1 by KO) and 1 draw, while Fuzesi drops to 6 wins 5 losses (1 by KO).

Chris Healey (Stockport) v Nikolai Ermenkov (Bulgaria)
4 x 3 Cruiserweight Contest

Ermenkov was wobbled from a headshot in the opening round but goes the distance.
Healey gets his second win on points (40-36)

Ermenkov’s record now stands 7 wins (3 by KO) 4 losses (3 by KO)

Joe Collins (Macclesfield) v Billy Campbell (New Cummock, Scotland) debut
4 x 3 Welterweight Contest

Joe ‘Crackers’ Collins was back after a two year break but lost on points against debutant Campbell.

Campbell came out ‘all guns blazing’ in round one and Collins looked to be caught off-guard. He struggled to find his rhthym – instead forced to ‘fend’ off his opponents attack, but he picked it up in the second round although Campbell still looks the busier. Collins is caught in the closing seconds of the third frame and looks disorientated as he wanders over to the neutral corner instead of his own.

Campbell finds success with the uppercuts and wins his first pro-contest on points 39-38.
Collins drops to 1 win 2 losses (1 by KO).

The clash between Spence and Tszyu had reportedly been lined up to take place in June. Tim did suffer a cut in his bout against Nurja, which could potentially delay proceedings. I am concerned that Spence has not fought for years now and having no warm up. This may show that he has not much left and cashing in. Tszyu secured a one-sided unanimous decision wi […]
