In Darlington on Friday, local man Stuart Hall outpointed Josh Wale of Barnsley to win the vacant Commonwealth (British Empire) Bantamweight Title.

On Saturday, at the Capital FM Arena, Nottingham, local boxer Carl ‘The Cobra’ Froch successfully defended his IBF Super-Middleweight Title by third round knockout of Philadelphia Boxer – Yusaf Mack.

Also on the Matchroom Sport promoted fight-night, Liverpool’s Tony Bellew won the vacant WBC Silver Light-Heavyweight Title by outpointing Argentinian – Roberto Feliciano Bolonti.

We hear that Walsall Boxer – Martin Gethin, is to face Ben Murphy of Hove, Sussex, for the vacant British Lightweight Title. Gethin – who heard the news on his birthday last week said ‘It’s the best birthday present ever’!

And Heavyweight Champ – David Haye is still in the Jungle! Despite bringing Comedian Brian Conley to tears when the Hayemaker got bored and thought it amusing to knock burning logs off the camp fire – he seems to be in fine spirits. And, having sung to his camp-mates, Haye and most of the camp were rewarded with a trip down to the ‘Jungle Arms’ pub. Happy with the extra calories (from beer and crisps) the singing boxer seemed content. We’re not expecting Simon Cowell to sign him up any day soon though….
