At Doncaster Dome, Tyrone Nurse of Huddersfield won the vacant BBBofC Central Area Light Welterweight Title by second round TKO. The fight was stopped when opponent Joe Elfidh of Kent suffered an injured shoulder. The Stefy Bull promoted Show featured eight undercard bouts.

In Tyne and Wear, Jon Lewis Dickinson of Cumbria won the British Cruiserweight Title by Unanimous Points Decision over local man David Dolan.

On Saturday, in Atlantic City, USA, Gavin Rees of Newbridge, Wales, was retired by his corner in the fifth round. Adrien Broner of Cincinnati retains his WBC Lightweight Title in impressive form. The Golden Boy Promotions and R & R Promotions fight-night featured six undercard fights.

In Crawley, local man Ben Jones won the vacant WBO European Super Featherweight Title by Unanimous Points Decision against Kris Hughes of Bellshill, Scotland. On the same Bill promoted by Assassins Promotions, Chris Jenkinson of Bolton won the vacant International Masters Middleweight Title by seventh round knockdown over Nicky Jenman of Brighton.

At the Gorbals Leisure Centre, Glasgow, Jon Slowey of Glasgow won the vacant International Masters Featherweight Title by Unanimous Points decision over Ian Bailey of Slough. The Alex Morrison promoted show featured five undercard bouts.

Ricky Hatton, MBE, joined in the ‘Red Nose Day’ activities this weekend when he took part in ‘Let’s Dance for Comic Relief’ ! Up against Comedians and Soap Stars, the Hitman donned a black sparkly lycra ‘all-in-one (!) and a ‘joker-style’ painted face before dancing to Robbie Williams’s ‘Let Me Entertain You!’ The routine was based around boxing (as you’d expect) but was cut short when the apparent ‘flying’ stunt didn’t happen (much to the disappointment of Ricky). Never mind, the Hitman came third in the dancing but won the karaoke sing-off against Comedian Tim Vine. His version of ‘Suspicious Minds’ by Elvis proved a hit with the ‘Script’ frontman – Danny O’Donoghue. Seems Rick is multi-talented ! I hear ‘The Voice 2013’ airs on TV soon (wink)

And finally, Olympian Boxer – Luke Campbell is now down to the last five skaters in ‘Dancing on Ice’. Despite being referred to as ‘Rhythm-less’ and ‘attitudinal’ – Luke escaped being in the bottom two last night and will have to skate with a ‘prop’ next week. Skaters can be given props ranging from hats to chairs and I wonder if Luke might get boxing gloves? We’ll have to wait and see.
