On Friday, at the Magna Centre, Rotherham, Local Boxer Navid Mansouri outpointed Max Maxwell of Birmingham over eight rounds in their Light Middleweight Contest. The David Coldwell promoted fight-night also featured five undercard bouts all going to points.
On Saturday, Liverpool’s David Price suffered a shock defeat at the hands of American Tony Thompson. Heavyweight Thompson won by second round knockdown.
On the same Bill, local man Kevin Satchell successfully defended his British and Commonwealth Flyweight Titles by unanimous points decision over Luke Wilton of Belfast.
Audley Harrison won the Prizefighter International Heavyweights Tournament (again!) at York Hall, Bethnal Green. Londoner Harrison – now residing in California – beat Claus Bertino, Martin Rogan and Derric Rossy to win the Title including more than £32,000 in prize money.
And GB Boxer – Luke Campbell, survived the ‘skate-off’ this weekend to go through to the semi-finals of ‘Dancing on Ice’. This week was ‘props week’ and Luke started off on the punch-bag (on ice!) then used a skipping rope for the duration of his ice sequence – and did so faultlessly, but did not incur enough votes to keep him out of the bottom two. He was up against Coronation Street's Samia Ghadie in the skate-off but all four judges voted for Luke to stay in the competition.
Next week (the semi’s) is ‘flying’ week which will see the skaters ‘airborne’ - suspended on wires for part of the skate routine.
