Ireland will meet France over two legs at the Rochestown Park Hotel in Cork and the National Stadium in Dublin on May 3rd and 5th next.
The Ireland (male) London 2012 squad of John Joe Nevin, Paddy Barnes, Michael Conlan, Darren O’Neill and Adam Nolan and current European champion Joe Ward have been called up to the Irish squad.
Ireland were due to meet France in Millstreet, Cork on May 3rd, but the meeting was cancelled after Olympic champion Katie Taylor was forced to withdraw because of a hand injury.
However, organisers Platinum One, in partnership the Irish Amateur Boxing Association (IABA), are now delighted to announce that the Cork international is back on track and that Irish boxing fans can also look forward to the May 5th showdown between the European powerhouses at the National Stadium.
Speaking at Thursday’s press conference at the Rochestown Park Hotel, Irish head coach Billy Walsh said that the internationals would provide Ireland with an ideal opportunity for competitive action ahead of the European Championships in Minsk, Belarus in June.
Rylane BC head coach Dan Lane, who is organising the Rochestown Park Hotel along with with Platinum One and the IABA, said that they were looking forward to a night of top class boxing.
Tickets for the Rochestown Park Hotel international are priced at €30 for adults and €15 for U/16s. The National Stadium international will be an afternoon show.
