Lots of great action took place across the globe this weekend and we’ll start in South Africa where at the Orient Theater in the coastal city of East London, Simpiwie Vetyeka retained his domestic bantamweight title for the fourth time with an eighth round stoppage against Wendy Makhenzi. In Huatabampo, Mexico Esteban Camou bounced back from a loss against Yory Boy Campas to retain the Mexican Super Bantam belt for the second time by stopping Ernesto Zamora over nine rounds.

In Nottingham, England hometown hero Carl Froch retained his Commonwealth Super Middle title with a bruising fifth round stoppage over South African battler Rueben Groenewald. Also, former European and Commonwealth Champion Esham Pickering bounced back at super feather by outpointing Frederic Bonifai over six on the Hennessy Sports bill and lightweight John Murray secured the WBC Youth trophy after having his highly competitive bout with Colombia’s Nacho Mendoza stopped due to a severe swelling on the forehead of the Englishman.

In Zadar, Croatia Stejpan Bozic improved upon his WBF Super Middle title winning victory over Nader Hamdan last June by stopping former world champion Julio Cesar Vasquez on cuts in seven rounds. At the Molson Center in Montreal, Canada hammer fisted NABA Super Middle Champion Lucian Bute continued to crush everything in his path by knocking out Donnell Wiggins in two rounds. On the same bill, Adrian Diaconu stopped Darrin Humphrey in the eleventh to capture the vacant WBC International Light Heavyweight belt.

In Mansfield, Australia domestic heavyweight champion Colin “The Kid” Wilson derailed the challenge of Nathan Briggs, who came into the contest with a broken hand, by way of fifth round stoppage on a Red Corner promotion. At the legendary Luna Park stadium n Buenos Aires, Argentina ex-world lightweight champion Raul Balbi retained his WBA Fedelatin crown for the third time by dropping Jorge Luis Noriega Medrano three times enroute to a second round finish. Additionally, ex-featherweight world titlist Julio Pablo Chacon won the vacant WBO Inter-Continental Super Featherweight crown by decisioning Julio Cesar Alganaraz.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain saw Madrid’s Gabriel Campillo keep his perfect record and win the Spanish Light Heavyweight title with a decision over local man Juan Nelongo Perez. At the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya Chris Sirengo crushed Tom Okusi within two rounds to claim the vacant Kenyan Heavyweight prize. Former Commonwealth Lightweight titlist Michael Muya was also in action, outpointing James Kitasi over twelve rounds.

In Tokyo, Filipino welterweight Rev Santillian regained his OPBF crown from Kazuhiko Hidaka by demolishing the Japanese fighter in the eighth round. In Magdeburg, Germany Sergei Dzindziruk put Daniel Santos down in the eighth before taking the WBO Light Middle title from the longtime champion via unanimous decision. On the same Universum Promotions bill, super middleweight Robert Stieglitz overcame Alejandro Berrio in the eleventh round to win an official IBF title eliminator, Regina Halmich retained her WIBF Flyweight crown for the twenty fourth time by outpointing Elena Reid, who drew with the German a year ago. Khoren Gevor won the vacant IBF and WBO Inter-Continental Middleweight titles by stopping Gustavo Magallanes in the eighth round.

David Guerault won the vacant European Union Bantamweight crown in Dombasle, France by outpointing John Bikai over ten rounds. In Castro, Chile Juan Carlos Alderete outboxed Victor Hugo Paz for the WBC Mundo Hispano Light Welter title. Wyong, Australia saw Marc Bargero rub out Paula Tuilau over three sessions to take the vacant IBO Asia Pacific Light Heavy belt.

Lastly, earlier today in Yokohama, Japan Masayuki Arinaga retained his OBPF
Super Fly title by outpointing Waenpetch Chuwatana for the second time.
