BOX NYC: Boxing Round Two

ByBoxing Press 01/03/2006

BOX NYC delivers a second knock-out combination of exciting fights, fine drinking and dining, high stakes poker and lingerie show titillation, in an atmosphere that would make Las Vegas and Havana proud. And to add substance to high style, a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF)

This year, BOX NYC is pairing up with companies like Harley Davidson, Remy Martin, Red Bull, Everlast, Canon, Manhattan Automobile Company, Aerospace High Performance Center, Nat Sherman Cigars and Astor & Black Custom Clothier to bring New York City a one-of-a-kind classic sporting and social event. Held in the Hammerstein Ballroom (, bet 8th & 9th Avenues), BOX NYC offers a reprieve from the mundane and a chance to see the hardest game in the plushest setting.

The fight card will feature several undefeated prospects. The main event will showcase one of New York?s best prospects Joey Rios (12-0, 5KO) of the Bronx. Fighting for in front of his hometown crowd, this junior welterweight sensation is sure to keep the fans on their feet. Also on the card fighting out of Bronx, NY will be undefeated lightweight Julio Cardenas (8-0, 2KO). Cardenas is coming off an impressive comeback victory against Joey Ortega in which Cardenas was sent to the canvas in the very first round. After the knockdown, Cardenas regained his composure and won a unanimous. In an 8-round bout un! defeated middleweight contender Pawel Wolak (9-0, 5KO) of Mt. Arlington, New Jersey will square off against Chuck Orso (4-6, 3KO). The card will also include four more impressive fights.

The white glove service, 4-course meal and free flow of premium liquor will mix perfectly with the high caliber competition in the ring and at the tables in a setting perfect for mingling, offering something for everyone from sports junkies to schmoozers. The

The evening will include both a live and silent auction with proceeds going to the Lance Armstrong Foundation. With a particular appeal to men ages 21-40, BOX NYC is the perfect outlet to raise money and awareness with the people testicular cancer most affects. As a testicular cancer survivor, the year?s number one individual fundraiser and LAF Peloton Project spokesperson, Charlie Mulea will be there to receive the check from BOX NYC.

In addition to enjoying thrilling fight action in an intimate venue, guests had the opportunity to win a seat at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas as the top tournament poker prize, view a model fashion show and sample fine cigars in the smoking lounge. With something for everyone to enjoy, the biggest winner of all was the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, which was presented with a check for $25,000 at the end of the evening.
