Boxing Info: Fight Factory

Five local youths from Deptford have successfully taken part in a training scheme at the Fight Factory in conjunction with Lewisham and the Police Safer neighourhood team in Deptford.

The first five who have completed the course have gone on to join a local amateur boxing club, Honor Oak and are now looking forward to taking part in competitive amateur boxing.

The five are to be invited back to the Maloney Fight Factory for a presentation night and are VIP guests of the Maloney’s at their British bantamweight title fight on the 30th May.

Due to the success of this event which was run over a ten week period the Fight Factory, Lewisham Council and the Police have decided to extend the scheme and it’s now offered to all youngsters in the local community.

The boys when joining are spoken to by top boxing manager and promoter Frank Maloney who oversees their training to help encourage them. A number of the local professionals at the gym take the time to talk to them and advise them.

The second scheme will start in the next couple of weeks.
