Exclusive Boxing Interview: Scott Lawton

Promising British lightweight Scott Lawton sees action this Saturday night on an Impact Boxing show at King’s Hall in Stoke-On-Trent, scheduled to take on hard as nails journeyman Baz Carey. We spoke briefly with Scott as he was putting the finishing touches on his training camp and caught a quick snapshot of his thoughts on a fight he must win in order to keep his British title hopes alive.

Saddoboxing: You must have completed your training now; how has it gone for you?

Scott Lawton : “I’m just at the check weigh-in at the moment for the Boxing Board of Control. They do a check weigh-in before the main weigh-in on Friday. Training, touchwood, and I don’t like saying this really, but its gone really well and it doesn’t usually go this well…but it’s been great. I’ve done plenty of sparring with Jimmy and Gary and there’s nothing I’ve seen of Baz Carey that I’m bothered about. I’ve watched a few videos and I know where I can catch him out.”

SB: Do you have a fight prediction?

SL: “Not really, I just know that I’ll win! and I expect to win well. Whether it’s a knockdown or points win, I’m not bothered really as long as I win.
