At Wythenshawe on Friday, local man Jimmy Kilrain Kelly won the Vacant British Masters Bronze light-middleweight Title on points over William Warburton of Atherton. The Steve Wood – VIP Promotions fight-night at ‘The Forum’ featured six undercard bouts.
In Birmingham, home fighter – Dave Egan of Cannock, lost out to Mark McKray of Tottenham by fifth round knockout in their scheduled six round Welterweight Contest. The Tommy Owen Promoted fight-night at the Paragon Hotel featured four undercard bouts.
At the Spa in Scarborough on Saturday, Local man – Danny Price won his scheduled six round Cruiserweight Contest by third round knockdown against Czech boxer – Michael Bilak. Promoter Phil Jeffries.
At the Keepmoat Stadium, Doncaster, Stuart Hall of Darlington won the vacant IBF Inter-Continental Bantamweight Title by Unanimous Points over Sergio Perales of Brownsville, Texas. And Jamie McDonnell of Doncaster won the vacant IBF Bantamweight Title by majority points decision over Julio Ceja of Mexico.
The Dennis Hobson promoted show featured five undercard bouts.
At the Emirates Arena, Glasgow, Eddie Hearn – Matchroom hosted a fight-night which featured three Title fights.
John Simpson of Greenock won the vacant WBC International Silver super featherweight title by outpointing Mongolian – Choi Tseveenpurev. Ricky Burns of Coatbridge successfully defended his WBO Lightweight Title by forcing the retirement of Jose Gonzalez who sustained a broken wrist. And Edinburgh’s Stephen Simmons won the vacant BBBofC Celtic Cruiserweight Title when Michael Sweeney of County Mayo, Ireland, was forced to retire on a cut in round three. The event also featured four undercard contests.
In Gloucester, Mitch Buckland of Cardiff won the vacant British Masters Bronze lightweight title on points over Dean Mills of Bridgwater, Somerset. Promoter Keith Mayo Promotions.
At the Arena, Peterborough, Robert Waterman hosted a show of four contests. All four home boxers won on points.
And Rendall Munroe made his comeback this weekend. Fighting at Lightweight – he scored a first round stoppage of Hungarian – Laszlo Fekete. The Clifton Mitchell Promotions afternoon at Club Republic, Leicester, featured eight undercard contests.
Finally, the Boxing Community bids farewell to WWBPL (World Wide Boxing Prediction League)President – Andrew Lipton (aka Millwall) this week. Sadly, Cancer-sufferer Andrew passed away Last Monday (6th May). His cremation takes place in Banbury on Thursday 16th May. Our sincere condolences to Andrew’s family and many friends.
