Nottingham’s Carl ‘The Cobra’ Froch retained his IBF Super-Middleweight Title by Unanimous Decision over Mikkel Kessler of Copehagen last night before a packed O2 Arena, London.
The fight – described as an ‘all-out war’ – saw both men taking heavy head-shots which could easily have warranted a stoppage for either fighter. But like true warriors – they both dug in to see it out the full twelve rounds. Froch gets the decision 116-112; 115-113; 118-110.
Also on the Eddie Hearn – Matchroom Sports and Sauerland promoted event, Tony Bellew of Liverpool won his final eliminator for the WBC World Light-Heavyweight Title – after getting a Unanimous Points victory over Malawi-born Isaac Chilemba.
And Londoner – George Groves, scored a fifth round TKO over Noe Gonzalez Alcoba of Argentina in their scheduled twelve round Super-Middleweight Contest.
