Carl Wild Vs Matty Clarkson: It was a ‘bloody’ night at Bowlers in Manchester on Saturday night! The Dave Coldwell promoted fight-night headlined the Central Area Light-Heavyweight Title clash between the Champion – Carl Wild of Sheffield and Matty Clarkson of Preston, but an earlier contest between Chris Healey of Stockport and Paul O’Hagan of Gateshead proved to be a blood-bath with Healey spurting blood from a cut eye in the third.

In the main bout, blood flowed again as Clarkson sustained a cut following a clash of heads in the sixth but he looked determined and focussed against a seemingly un-motivated Wild and the Preston boxer clinched the Title with a 98-93 points win.

Also on the Bill, Hosea Burton of Manchester made quick work of Leicester’s Jahmaine Smyle who was on the canvas twice in the opening round. Burton wins by first round TKO.

Carl Wild (Sheffield) v Matty Clarkson (Preston)
BBBofC Central Area Light-Heavyweight Title

This looked a one-way fight for the first three rounds with Clarkson looking the more motivated but the Champion – Wild, picked it up in the fourth round. ‘Born2be Wild’ gets stuck in during the fifth and lands some heavy shots but then seems to ‘switch off’ again.

A clash of heads in the sixth frame sees Clarkson sustain a vertical cut to the left brow and Wild targets it. Clarkson keeps focussed and catches the Sheffield man with a shot just as the bell signals the end of the eighth. It’s a sloppy round nine but both men go at it in the tenth and final round.

Clarkson gets the points win 98-93 to take the Title. He improves to 10 wins (2 by KO) 1 loss and 2 draws.

Wild drops to 14 wins (1 by KO) 22 losses (6 by KO) and 5 draws

David Barnes (Manchester) v William Warburton (Atherton)
6 x 3 Welterweight Contest

Warburton – who’d took the fight at short notice – gave a good performance against Barnes who secured a points win 59-56

Barnes improves to 27 wins (11 by KO) 2 losses (1 by KO) and 2 draws

Warburton’s record now stands at 9 wins (2 by KO) 46 losses (2 by KO) and 2 draws

Tyrone Nurse (Huddersfield) v Mark McKray (Tottenham)
6 x 3 Light-Welterweight Contest

Nurse gets the points win 60-54 and improves to 26 wins (5 by KO) and 1 loss

McKray drops to 5 wins (4 by KO) 21 losses (4 by KO) 1 draw

Hosea Burton (Manchester) v Jahmaine Smyle (Leicester)
6 x 3 Light-Heavyweight Contest

Smyle was on the canvas twice in round one. Looking stunned and with legs like jelly – the fight was stopped by Referee Alvin Finch.

Burton wins by first round TKO and improves to 7 wins (2 by KO)

Smyle drops to 8 wins (3 by KO) 4 losses (2 by KO) and 1 draw

Chad Gaynor (Rotherham) v Kevin McCauley (Brighton)
6 x 3 Welterweight Contest

‘Hyper’ Gaynor subjected McCauley to heavy headshots in the second and third rounds which resulted in Referee John Latham stopping the contest, despite the protestations of the Brighton man. Gaynor gets the third round stoppage and improves to 13 wins (7 by KO) 1 loss.

While McCauley drops to 11 wins 55 losses (8 by KO) 3 draws.

Chris Healey (Stockport) v Paul O’Hagan (Gateshead)
4 x 3 Cruiserweight Contest

An exciting all-action contest and – despite the shocking loss of blood (!) Healey was the victor on points 39-37

Healey improves to 4 wins (1 by KO) 1 loss (1 by KO)

O’Hagan drops to 3 wins (2 by KO) 1 loss

Liam Hanrahan (Macclesfield) v Reynaldo Cajina (Barcelona via Nicaragua)
6 x 3 Super-Bantamweight Contest

Hanrahan improves to 4 wins (3 by KO)

Cajina drops to 12 wins (9 by KO) 16 losses (4 by KO) and 3 draws

Marcus Le Doux (Debut) (Stoke-on-Trent) v Robert Studzinski (Llanelli, Wales)
4 x 3 Middleweight Contest

Debutant Le Doux’s arms looked heavy as they approached round three. Both men slugged it out in the fourth round but they looked exhausted. Le Doux secures the points win 38-37

Polish-born Studzinski’s record now stands at 2 wins (2 by KO) 11 losses (4 by KO)

Liam Conroy (Barrow-in-Furness) v Duane Green (Norwich)
6 x 3 Middleweight Contest

Conroy wins on points 60-54 and improves to 4 wins (1 by KO) and 1 loss

Green drops to 1 win and 1 loss

Mick Hall (Preston) v Dee Mitchell (Birmingham)
4 x 3 Middleweight Contest

Hall wins on points 40-37 and improves to 8 wins (1 by KO) no losses

Mitchell drops to 9 wins (2 by KO) 36 losses (2 by KO) and 1 draw

Joe Collins (Macclesfield) v Matt Seawright (Tamworth)
4 x 3 Welterweight Contest

Seawright sustained a cut in the opening round and thereafter threw everything at Collins!

A close contest but Seawright – who clearly felt he’d won the fight (as did other ringside spectators) – looked disgusted at the decision in favour of the Macclesfield man.

Collins wins on points 39-38 and improves to 2 wins 2 losses (1 by KO)

Seawright’s record stands at 5 wins 76 losses (14 by KO) and 5 draws
