Team GB’s Captain – Thomas Stalker of Liverpool – smashed his way to a first round victory last night by flooring Romanian Oszkar Fiko mid-way through the opening round of their scheduled six round Light-Welterweight Contest.
Stalker improves to 4 wins (1 by KO) while Fiko drops to 4 wins (2 by KO) 4 losses (3 by KO)
Also on the Dave Coldwell Promotions fight-night billed as ‘New Kids on the Dock’ – Liverpool’s Andy Colquhoun scored a points win (59-55) over Nigerian-born Ideh Ochuko of Bermondsey. Ochuko – who danced his way (rather exaggeratingly!) in to the ring – was deducted one point in round four for purposely going in with the head.
Colquhoun improves to 7 wins (2 by KO) while Ochuko drops to 5 wins (1 by KO) 10 losses
The fight-night at Liverpool Olympia featured seven fights in total – undercard results as follows:
Sean Dodd (Birkenhead) Vs Lee Connelly (Chesterfield)
6 x 3 Lightweight Contest
Connelly was on the canvas in the first round but ‘Masher’ Dodd wins on points 40-36 and improves to 6 wins (2 by KO)
Connelly drops to 2 wins 3 losses
Paul Riley (Birkenhead) v Matthew Ashmole (Swansea)
4 x 3 Light-Middleweight Contest
Debutant Riley gets ‘off the mark’ with a first round knockdown.
Ashmole took a shot to the head and fell back heavily – the back of his head smacking hard on the canvas. Surprisingly he got up for the decision and claimed to be ok (!)
Ashmole’s record now stands at 11 losses (3 by KO) no wins
Steven ‘Junior Jones’ (Liverpool) Vs Delroy Spencer (Wolverhampton)
4 x 3 Featherweight Contest
Debutant Jones gets his first win on points 40-36

Robbie Davies jnr (Liverpool) Vs Carl Allen (Wolverhampton)
4 x 3 Light Welterweight Contest
Debutant Davies gets the win when Allen is forced to retire at the end of the first round. The Wolverhampton man took a shot in the closing seconds of the opener which sent his legs to jelly. He told his corner that he’d taken a shot on the back of his head. He was unable to continue.
Allen’s record now stands at 18 wins (5 by KO) 107 losses (18 by KO) and 7 draws.
Rod Smith (Sheffield) Vs Jamie Ambler (Aberystwyth)

A steady start to the fight but Ambler ‘goes for it’ in the third round and Smith looked to lose focus. Fighting resumes after Smith retrieves his gumshield only for Ambler to lose his later in the round.
Smith wins on points 40-36 and improves to 3 wins (2 by KO)
Ambler drops to 9 wins (3 by KO) 52 losses (6 by KO) and 2 draws
