WBA News: Mayweather, Álvarez Officially Open Training Camps

World Boxing Association Champions American Floyd Mayweather Jr and Mexican Saul “Canelo” Alvarez officially opened training champs awaiting their next commitment on September 14 in Las Vegas.

“Canelo” Alvarez, 154 lbs king, has been working in the gym while making the promotional tour for his upcoming fight promoted by Golden Boy Promotions.

Now the Aztec is settled in the Big Bear Mountains in Los Angeles, to make the strongest part of his preparation, aiming to beat the undefeated Mayweather Jr.

Furthermore, the 154-pound champion, Mayweather Jr, opened his camp in Las Vegas to concentrate on the preparation for his second fight of the year 2013.

Mayweather plans to do a job adapted to Canelo Alvarez, to win the next commitment. According to statements given by his trainer, Floyd Mayweather Sr, he has trained with sparring partners with similar size and features to the Mexican, to press him hard enough to make a good preparation.

Álvarez is undefeated in 42 fights, one draw, with 26 KO’s, while Mayweather is also undefeated at 44-0, 26 KO´s.
Both fighters are part of the WBA family and we are confident they both will comply with excellent preparation, to make one of the best shows of the year 2013 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on September 14.

International referee Raul Caiz Sr will dictate a training workshop for Uruguayan officials, during July 17 and 18, 2013, on the eve of the the World Boxing Association lightweight title fight between Cecilia Comunales and the Dominican Marisol Reyes.

The activity will focus on reviewing the regulation, referees and officials’ performance, scoring of fights, among other topics that will be reviewed by Caiz, who will be the referee of the main card between Comunales and Reyes, in Stadium 8 of June in Paysandu, Uruguay on July 20.

The the promoter of the boxing event, Sampson Boxing LLC, is also the organizer of the International official seminar.
Caíz, who is member of the International Officials Committee of the WBA, will also take some time to guide those officials taking the first steps as referees and judges in boxing.
