Jimmy Lange to Battle Fontaine Cabell in Main Event of Major League Boxing

Tickets go on sale this Monday, Nov. 6, 2006

Popular Great Falls, VA middleweight JIMMY LANGE (27-3-1, 19 KOs) will battle Puerto Rican native FONTAINE CABELL (22-6-1, 17 KOs) of Alamonte Spring, FL in the ten-round Main Event of Major League Boxing’s six-bout card scheduled for Saturday, December 9, 2006 at the Patriot Center. Tickets go on sale this Monday, November 6 at 3:00 p.m.

Fan favorite Lange continues his march toward his goal of fighting for a world title belt. Lange, who scored a dramatic 10th-round TKO over Tommy Wilt on October 7 in Fairfax, will once again draw from his enthusiastic hometown supporters as he headlines his fourth consecutive Patriot Center show.

Meanwhile, Cabell, who also defeated Wilt via a four-round decision in 2003, will look to upset the local favorite, after suffering an eight-round TKO to Maximino Cuevas this past April in Palm Beach, FL in his last bout.

Washington, DC’s own MARK “TOO SHARP” JOHNSON (44-5, 28 KOs), a former three-time world champion and the only African-American boxer to hold a world flyweight championship title, will be featured in the evening’s co-Main Event against a yet-to-be determined opponent. Johnson hopes to draw on the local fan support as well in his first fight since losing to WBO bantamweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez back in February. He last fought in the Washington region in July 2004.

Also on the card will be an eight-round rematch of “THE PRIDE OF PORTSMOUTH” DORIN SPIVEY (34-4, 28 KOs) and DEAN “THE PIT BULL” WHITE (13-5-1, 6 KOs) of Smithsburg, MD. They fought in 1998 with Spivey recording a seventh-round TKO in Virginia Beach. Spivey, trained by the legendary former world champion Pernell “Sweet Pea” Whitaker, defeated Roberto Valenzuela in an entertaining fight which went the distance at last month’s Patriot Center card. Undefeated junior lightweight prospect ANDREW FARMER (3-0, 3 KOs), fighting out of Manassas, VA, will make his Patriot Center debut on the card.

Tickets, priced at $25, $50, $75, $100, $300 (Ringside) and $500 (VIP Ringside), can be purchased through all Ticketmaster outlets, including the Patriot Center box office, online at www.ticketmaster.com or via Phonecharge at 703-573-SEAT, 202-397-SEAT or 410-547-SEAT.
