Matchroom Announces Big London Christmas Show Lineup

ByMatchroom Boxing 30/11/2013

Martin Murray, Anthony Ogogo and Kal Yafai have all been added to the star-studded line-up of Matchroom Sport’s Christmas bumper fight night at the ExCeL in London on December 14, live on Sky Sports.

World Middleweight contender Murray is in ten-round action against Sergey Khomitsky, Ogogo returns to the scene of his Olympic success for his fourth pro fight, while Yafai moves into double figures in the paid ranks as he eyes title fights in 2014.

The stacked card features 15 fights with former World Lightweight title challenger Kevin Mitchell facing Italian Brunet Zamora for the vacant IBF Inter-Continental title, recent World Welterweight challenger Lee Purdy aims to take the European title from Italian Leonard Bundu, the fifth defence for the Lazio man.

Like Ogogo, Olympic Gold medal star Anthony Joshua, MBE, revisits the setting of his triumph at the London 2012 Games as he aims for a fourth KO win in the pro ranks against Welshman Dorian Darch, while recent IBF Bantamweight king Jamie McDonnell is out for the second time in four weeks.

There are two tasty Southern Area title clashes as Tony Owen defends his Light Welterweight strap against fellow Carshalton man Ricky Boylan, and Ryan ‘Crash Bang’ Taylor meets Floyd Moore for the vacant Lightweight belt. Danny Connor lost to Owen in their October meeting for the title and he is in an eliminator for the English Light Welterweight belt against Tyler Goodjohn.

Erick Ochieng is back in action after his battle with Liam Smith for the British Light Middleweight title, moving down to Welterweight to face Welshman Dale Evans, there’s a welcome return to the ring for unbeaten Lightweight prospect Martin J Ward, Essex Light Welterweight John Wayne Hibbert looks to build on his British Masters triumph and Cruiserweight duo Wadi Camacho and Ben Ileyemi complete the line-up, with a hand injury forcing Islington Middleweight John Ryder to miss out.

“I’m delighted to add Martin, Anthony and Kal to our bumper Christmas bill at the ExCeL London,” said promoter Eddie Hearn. “We’ve put together a bill stacked with some of the best talent in Britain with big title fights for Mitchell and Purdy, two Olympic heroes in action in Joshua and Ogogo, a 2014 World title candidate in McDonnell and many, many more, I’m expecting a fantastic night to bring 2013 to a close in style.”

Tickets are on sale now priced £40, £60 and £100 through www.seetickets.com and on 0871 230 7148.

VIP packages priced £150 are available exclusively through Matchroom Boxing – www.matchroomboxing.com – or call 01277 359900.

  • Daniel Dubois v Joseph Parker 30/10/2026
These two could face one another 30th January 2027. They were due to face one another before Dubois pulled out at the last minute. Parker will not have fought in 15 months since he lost to Fabio Wardley and was banned for using cocaine. Dubois will be fighting after destroying Wardley this month so he is keeping very busy. Dubois would be better waiting for […]
  • Adam Azim v Gabriel Gollaz 30/10/2026

  • Haney does not want to fight Shakur 23/10/2026
I’ve seen their sparring videos on YouTube. And I can see why Haney is having all of this hullabaloo before signing on to fight Shakur Stevenson. He knows he can’t beat Shakur. Plus, coming off of that ass-whipping he got from Ryan Garcia, steroid claims aside, he knows Shakur will cook him and he does not want to have another legitimate loss on his record. […]
  • Ryan Garcia v Floyd Mayweather? 23/10/2026
Could this silly fight happen? A 50 year old who has not fought since 2017 taking on a young peak welterweight. Surely it can’t happen. Conor Benn was bad but this is awful. 3 posts - 3 participants Read full topic […]
  • Why did we believe Morrison would have beaten Mercer? 22/10/2026
Why was anyone giving Tommy Morrison a chance in that fight? That fight went the way it was supposed to go, with Ray Mercer winning even though that ko was probably one of the most brutal you would ever see in boxing. Check the facts, Mercer beat Morrison in the amateurs. Handily as well. Mercer was the champion… Mercer was the heavy favorite. 3 posts - 2 pa […]
  • I just realize how scared Spinks was ahead of his fight against Tyson 22/10/2026
Did you guys stop to appreciate how frightened Spinks was? Even as a trained fighter like himself, you could see the visible fear in his eyes. He knew he stood no chance of winning. He also was probably thinking about how bad those punches were going to hurt. lolol… I could swear I saw him trembling in the ring when Tyson’s music came on and started his walk […]
