Hatton Promotions’ Aussies Look To End 2013 With A Bang

Hatton Promotions’ Australian trio will each look to close out 2013 by extending their unbeaten records.

Hard-hitting heavyweight Lucas “Big Daddy” Browne will keep busy against old foe Clarence Tillman at the Melbourne Pavilion on Friday, December 13.

Two days before that, 2012 Olympians Damien “Super” Hooper and Cameron “The Hammer” Hammond appear against ‘as yet to be confirmed’ opposition at the same venue.

It’s a quick return to the ring for all three.

At the beginning of this month, Browne added to his international fanbase and earned himself a mandatory shot at David Price’s Commonwealth title by knocking out Richard Towers in England.

And barely two weeks ago, Hooper won his first title by lifting the WBC Youth Silver crown at light-heavyweight with a second round stoppage of Yodkhunsuk Mor Poowana, while Hammond enjoyed his first eight round contest against Joel Dela Cruz.

“We’ve managed, at short notice, to get Damien and Cameron on the Sam Soliman v Les Sherrington card, which will be their last fight of the year,” co-manager Matt Clark revealed.

“We’re happy with how both boys are transitioning to the pro’s, though both have things to learn and are far from the finished product.

“Damien was knocked down in his last fight and has already told me what an incredible learning experience that fight was. He was caught with a shot basically as the fight started. The next two rounds were a wild shoot out. He showed plenty of heart.

“Cameron went eight rounds for the first time against an experienced opponent. He did it fairly comfortably though he has told me he wants to work on his fitness to increase his punch output over the distance.

“As for Lucas, Tillman is one of only two blokes to go the distance with him, but Lucas has come on in leaps and bounds since then. Lucas knows he can’t afford to overlook him while the situation with Price and the Commonwealth title is sorted.”
