German Bomber Sahin Has Glowaki Hurdle To Clear In Poland

German “Bomber” Serdar Sahin (22-1) will travel to Walcz, Poland on December 14 to challenger unbeaten local hero Krysztof Glowacki (20-0) for the vacant WBO intercontinental cruiserweight championship.

“I know that it is always hard to win on the road. But I like challenges and this is my big chance to get in line for a world title fight against Marco Huck”, says Sahin.

“I will do whatever it takes to beat Glowacki. I have seen some of his fights. He’s a decent boxer but nothing too special. I think I have a decent chance of winning this fight.”

Sahin has a history of winning fights he wasn’t supposed to win. In 2009 the “Bomber” stopped local hero Mario Stein in the tenth and final round in Erfurt to win the German cruiserweight championship. In 2010 Sahin stopped unbeaten German prospect Lukas Schulz in the sixth in Herning, Denmark.

His sole loss came in August 2012 when he dropped down to light heavyweight to fight Robin Krasniqi for the WBO intercontinental championship.

“I made some big mistakes in and before that fight”, admits Sahin. “But I learned a lot from the experience. And I think that the loss only made me stronger. Now I am back at cruiserweight and ready for big things to come.”

A couple of weeks ago Sahin suffered a rib injury in sparring which put the showdown against Glowacki in jeopardy. “But I feel no pain at the moment”, says the 31-year-old.

“Training camp is going extremely well. I have no problems. And I am getting ready for war on December 14th. The show will take place in Walcz which is only 300 kilometers from Berlin so I hope that lots of my friends will join and support me.”
