The World Boxing Association sends its affectionate words of greeting to the new welterweight champion, the Argentinean Marcos René Maidana, who won the title and was awarded as the Athlete of the Year in his country.

“Chino” Maidana defeated Adrien Broner by unanimous decision in Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, that motivated the Argentinean specialized press to reward him with the Golden Olimpia, award given to the outstanding athlete of that nation.

We join that recognition for his dedication to the sport and his devotion to work, and we take this opportunity to thank him for his loyalty.
