All About The Ladies: WBA Sanctioned 31 Female Bouts In 2013

The World Boxing Association sanctioned a total of 31 female fights during the year 2013, and already has scheduled two to start on the right foot this 2014.

As for the fights sanctioned last year, 26 of them were title defenses, two of them were mandatory fights, one was international title, one Interim title and one vacant title.

According to the info supplied by George Martínez, director of NABA, Argentina was the country with the highest number of fights with 10.

The second country in the list was Japan with 6 fights, followed by México and Korea with 3. Denmark, Germany and Russia held 2 each.

Uruguay, Panama and South Africa staged only one.

It is important to point out the Lightweight Interim title fight held on August 24 at the Open Air Bike Show of Volvograd, Russia where the local Svetlana Kulakova won the belt before and record audience of 200,000 people.

In these feminine fights participated 37 officials appointed by the WBA.

The World Boxing Association super lightweight champion, Argentina’s Mónica Acosta, defends today her belt against Laura Esteche in San Clemente del Tuyú, Argentina.

Both fighters complied with the weight-in without any problems. The champion made 63,200 kgs and Esteche made 62,900 kgs.

Gustavo Tomás will be the referee of this third defense of “the cat” Acosta. Jose Emilio Graglia will supervise the actions.

Acosta is undefeated in 19 fights with 5 KO’s while her challenger has a record of 9-3-1 2 KO’s.
