The Championships Committee of the World Boxing Association announced that Martin Murray does not hold the Middleweight interim title of the organization anymore.
The decision was made according to the regulation because Murray did not make any defense since he won the title.
In addition, the Committee decided to withdraw Murray from the first challenger position of the Division, as stated in the regulation known by both, the Boxer and his working group.
However, Murray can appeal the decision.
The World Boxing Association family regrets the passing away of the one our International Official Members, Doctor Ruben Garcia.
Garcia lost the battle against a terrible disease this morning in Alice, Texas.
The WBA Directory chaired by Gilberto Mendoza, together with the WBA family, send their heartfelt words of sympathy to his son, Jason Garcia, who is also member of the International Officials’ Committee.
We also wish to express our condolences to Ruben Garcia’s relatives and friends.
Garcia was involved in boxing for many years ever since he stared scoring fights in Texas in 1991, and joined the WBA International Officials Committee in 2003

The World Boxing Association family regrets the passing away of Mrs. Carmen Zabala, the mother of promoter Tuto Zabala Jr, All Star Boxing Inc.
Mrs. Zabala passed away on Thursday in the USA.
Gilberto Mendoza, President of the organization together with all the members of the great family and friends of the WBA send their words of sympathy in this painful time.
