Boxing Info: LeHoullier-Houghtaling

ByBoxing Press 20/11/2006

Unbeaten middleweight Jason “The Hammer” Le Houllier headlines Battle Zone at The Castle on December 15 against veteran Frank Houghtaling in the eight-round main event at The Castle in downtown Boston.

The Alpha Omega Entertainment Group, in association with Sprint/Nextel and NESN, is promoting Battle Zone at the Castle. The show will be taped lived and shown at a later date on NESN. Ed Berliner will handle the blow-by-blow call while boxing historian Mike DeLisa serves as color commentator. IBA World middleweight champion “Ireland’s” John Duddy has been added as a special color analyst.

“We’re bringing pro boxing back in New England on NESN,” promoter Hank Tuohy said. “The Castle is a great venue and has a rich tradition. We’re trying to build boxer interest and fan followings by showcasing New England prospects in competitive matches. We’re thrilled to have John Duddy joining us at the weigh in and at the fights.”

LeHoullier (20-0, 8 KOs), reigning Northern New England junior middleweight champion, fights out of Portland, Maine. His most notable wins have been against Thomas Witt (18-4) and Jose Medina (8-4). Houghtaling (18-12-5, 4 KOs) has held several regional titles like the IBC International (welterweight), IBC Americas (light welterweight) and New York State (light middleweight) belts.

Houghtaling, fighting out of Albany, has a win against former world champion Livingstone Bramble and has been in against former world champions Sharmba Mithcell and
Daniel Santos.

The co-feature matches two-time Venezuelan Olympian Patrick “El Elegante” Perez (8-0, 6
KOs) against former IBC lightweight title challenger Lamar “Cochise” Murphy (29-11-1, 20 KOs) in a 6/8 round junior welterweight bout.
