DiBella Entertainment’s Broadway Boxing put on an entertaining evening of boxing on Wednesday night. The evening had a little something for every boxing fan; a strong performance, a confidence building knockout, an anticipated rematch and an early round knockout. They even had a handful of boxing celebrities such as Iran Barkley, WBO Heavyweight Champion Shannon Briggs, Michael Grant, Emile Griffith, Vivian Harris, Junior Jones, Buddy McGirt, and HBO’s Harold Lederman on hand watching from ringside.

Noriko Kariya improved her record to 6-1-1 (1) in a six round bantamweight bout against Elisha Olivas, who dropped to 5-5-1 (3). Kariya put on a strong performance and lost only one round on one of the three judge’s scorecards. She has fought six times in 2006 and continues to improve with each bout.

Jaidon Codrington’s opponent Johnny Brooks came into the ring appearing like a deer looking into headlights. You just knew looking at him that it wasn’t a matter of if he was going to get knocked out, but how quickly would he get knocked out. Codrington’s record improved to 13-1 (11) while Brooks drops to 5-5-1 (3). Codrington is still being handled with kid gloves since his knockout loss to Allan Green last year. His last four opponents have had a poor combined record of 67-56-4.

The rematch featured Curtis Stevens against Marcos Primera, who provided Stevens his first loss by TKO last July. Stevens dominated this fight, throwing good combinations and showing a solid defense. He kept his hands up throughout most of the match, fighting his tendency to let them drop as he had in their original contest. Stevens won a unanimous decision and improved to 14-1 (11) while Primera dropped to 20-16-2 (13).

The main event was a scheduled 10 round junior welterweight bout between Edgar Santana and Meacher Major. Santana scored a knockout after three action packed rounds, getting the better of the exchanges and improved his record to 20-2 (13) after knocking down Major 11-3 (10) late in the round. The referee stopped the fight at 2:53 of the third round.
