At a packed and lively Municipal Hall in Colne, last night, Shayne ‘The Pain’ Singleton of Colne won the vacant WBC International Silver Welterweight Title by outpointing Hungarian – Laszlo Fazekas.
An army of fans were out in force yet again to support the local boxing hero and they were not disappointed at ‘Singy’s’ performance, although they may have been worried at the sight of his right cheek – which was marked and swollen at the end of the fourth, followed by a nick to the left brow in the seventh. The injuries did not deter the home boxer who gave a flashy display against Fazekas who stepped in to replace Jose Del Rio.
Singleton wins by Unanimous Points 100-90; 100-91; 100-90;
The Steve Wood – VIP Boxing promoted show also featured four contests from local boxers.
