At King Georges Hall, Blackburn, last night, Steve Wood (VIP Promotions) hosted a fightnight headlined by an eight round Super-Middleweight contest between Luke Blackledge of Accrington and Konstantin Alexandrov of Bulgaria.

Blackledge was to have faced Jahmaine Smyle for the vacant English Super-Middleweight Title but when this was withdrawn Alexandrov stepped in with just 2 days’ notice.

Blackledge was the busier man in this eight rounder and kept up the pace throughout, targeting the Bulgarians mid-torso and gets the points victory 80-72

Also on the seven-fight bill, popular Shayne Singleton of Colne extended his winning record to 20 wins (6 by KO) by outpointing a ‘gain’ Adam Jones of Denaby Main over six rounds in the Welterweight division (60-54)

But perhaps the best scrap of the night was the six round Welterweight contest between local man Ali Shah and Preston’s Mick Hall, with Hall nicking the points victory (58-57) over an awkward Shah.

Other Undercard Results:

Tobias Webb (Swansea) v Elvis Dube (Derby)
6 x 3 Super-Middleweight Contest

Webb on points 60-54

Isaac Lowe (Moorcombe) v Simas Volosinas (Lithuania)
4 x 3 Super-Featherweight Contest

Lowe on points 40-36

A.J.Faizy (Lower Darwen) v Mark McCray (Tottenham)
6 x 3 Light-Welterweight Contest

Despite being on the canvas himself in the first round – Faizy wins with a second round TKO.

Qasim Niaz (Blackburn) v Matthew Ashmole (Swansea)
4 x 3 Welterweight Contest

Local man Niaz had big support from the Blackburn crowd and wins on points 40-36
