Oliver Harrison Promotions hosted a night of boxing at Evoque Night Club, Preston, last night.

The headliner was a scheduled ten round Featherweight Contest between South African – Tshifhiwa Munyai and Reynaldo Cajina of Barcelona. Munyai won the contest by ninth round stoppage.

The event featured five undercard bouts, results as follows:

Tshifhiwa Munyai (South Africa) v Reynaldo Cajina (Barcelona via Nicaragua)
10 x 3 Featherweight Contest

Cajina was counted near the end of round one by Referee Mark Lyson, although from my position it looked like he’d stumbled over his feet.

Rounds five and six were decent rounds for the ‘Atomic Spider’ Munyai who pops out the jab from centre ring while Cajina skirts around the ropes.

Cajina lands a low blow in the eighth and Munyai has to take a minute. He makes Cajina ‘pay for it’ though – piling on the pressure at the end of that round.

It was a frenzied onslaught from Munyai in round nine. Cajina slips down twice and is not counted, but Munyai lets go a barrage of shots and Referee Lyson stops the contest – Cajina under too much pressure.
Munyai wins by TKO Round 9

Denton Vassell (Ancoats) v Gary Boulden (Shepperton)
6 x 3 Middleweight Contest

Vassell, up against a determined Boulden, didn’t look overly comfortable in my opinion. He lost his gumshield in rounds 4 and 5. Boulden scored with lefts to the head while Vassell threw shots to head and body of his opponent.
Vassell gets the points win 59-56

Ashley Peyton (Atherton) v Matt Seawright (Tamworth)
6 x 2 Welterweight Contest

Seawright left his face open to a few head shots during this contest. Referee John Latham warned Peyton about using his forearm to shove Seawright off. He was also warned for a low blow mid-way through the contest and then deducted a point in the fifth for further low blows. Seawright caught the popular Atherton man with a loose shot in the sixth and final round which raised a chorus of ‘Ooo’s’ from the crowd.

Peyton gets the points win 59-54

Kofi Yates (Wythenshawe) v Radoslav Mitev (Sofia, Bulgaria)
4 x 3 Super-Lightweight Contest

‘Casper’ Yates took a bit of time to get his distancing right as he was a bit too far away from his opponent at the start of the fight. Mitev scored with lefts to the head while Yates targeted the body of his opponent.

A close contest but Yates gets the points win 39-38

Marc Leach (Salford) v Valentin Marinov (Rousse, Bulgaria)
4 x 3 Super-Bantamweight Contest

‘Livewire’ Leach dominated Marinov who was down three times in succession during the second round. Referee Mark Lyson stopped the contest after Marinov had been counted for a third time.

Leach wins by TKO round 2

Osman Aslam (Bolton) v Anwar Alfadli (Sheffield)
4 x 3 Bantamweight Contest

A lively contest from these two which saw Alfadli down in round three and again – from a stumble – at the end of that round (not counted). Alfadli was dangerous with loose overarm rights which came close to target causing a few gasps from Aslam supporters. Alfadli was on the canvas again in the fourth and counted, although it looked more like a stumble.

His corner shouted out an offer of chicken and chips (!) in the closing minute of the fourth and final round which presumably kept him going till the bell (!)

Aslam wins on points 40-37
