Ricky Hatton reclaimed the IBF Light Welterweight crown last night at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas and added the IBO belt in the process by outboxing reigning titlist Juan Urango over twelve bruising rounds.
Also, ex-world lightweight champion Jose Luis Castillo walked away with a split decision victory after being seemingly bested by the far less experienced Herman Ngoudjo over the twelve round distance for Ngoudjo’s NABF Light Welterweight title.
Afterward it was announced that contracts for Hatton vs. Castillo have already been signed for the pair to square off in June at the Thomas and Mack Centre in Las Vegas.
Also on the bill, Ricky’s younger brother Matthew Hatton used a sharp right hand to floor opponent Frank Houghtaling in the fourth round before the veteran from New York called it quits before coming out for the seventh round.
Full ringside report from SaddoBoxing’s Mark DeSisto coming soon.
