Last night, at the Leigh Sports Centre, Adam Ismail of Liverpool became the new Central Area Welterweight Champion by outpointing Sean Lewis of Birkenhead in a rematch of their fight in September when Lewis won the vacant title by one point (96-95).

A messy, grappling contest saw Ismail gain confidence as the rounds notched up but his constant holding eventually resulted in a point deduction in the ninth round. It wasn’t enough to deter the Liverpool man though who remained focused to score victory (96-94).

The show hosted by Steve Wood – VIP Promotions featured 10 under-card bouts including the debut of Tom McGuinness.
