Star Boxing: Mike Arnaoutis vs Kendall Holt

ByBoxing Press 18/04/200718/04/2007

We are just days away from arguably the most important match-up in the six- year history of the popular SHOWTIME boxing series, “ShoBox: The New Generation”. On Friday, April 20th, at Bally’s Atlantic City, WBO #1 rated Kendall “Rated R” Holt (21-1, 12KO’s) from Patterson, NJ is set to clash with the WBO #2 rated “Mighty” Mike Arnaoutis (17-1-2, 9KO’s) of Atlantic City, NJ, in a 12- round WBO Jr. Welterweight Eliminator for the #1 mandatory spot.

Arnaoutis, who trains about 15 minutes away from Bally’s A.C., has shifted his training hours to late afternoon to prepare for his evening performance.

“We’ve had a great training camp. We’ve had good sparring partners to emulate Holt’s style and I’ve made the adjustments necessary to win” stated a confident Mike Arnaoutis.

“Kendall Holt is an awkward fighter, but just look at their records. If you make the comparison you’ll see that Arnaoutis is the better fighter” said Mike Michaels, an advisor for “Mighty” Mike and Cestus Management. “In only his 12th pro-fight Arnaoutis fought a monster in Juan Urango, the former IBF Jr. Welterweight Champion. Urango was supposed to be indestructible-Arnaoutis made him look like a club fighter. No disrespect to Holt, but he isn’t in the same league as Arnaoutis”

In a recent interview Holt stated that he would be surprised if Arnaoutis hears the final bell. “Mighty” Mike just shrugged it off “I don’t pay attention to that type of stuff. I’m 100% focused on the goal-to beat Kendall Holt and become a world champion.”

“In his last fight he put on a competent performance, but he knows that he can be knocked out. It’s already happened to him” said Mike Michael.

Although Arnaoutis is considered a boxer-puncher, he has knocked out 3 out of his last 4 opponents, and has some pop for a Jr. Welterweight.

“I’ve had a lot of fighters and when a fighter has been knocked out it plagues them for the rest of their career” said Mike Michaels. “They think back to a time where they were looking up at the stars, looking at the lights, thinking their on the beach with their girlfriend or wife”

Arnaoutis promoter, Star Boxing’s Joe DeGuardia is looking forward to the match. “We’ve been hearing that both fighters are in excellent shape and this fight is a must for boxing fans”.

Both Arnaoutis and Holt are scheduled to attend at a press luncheon Thursday, April 19th at Bally’s at 12 PM.

Malachy Farrell ready for battle of Unbeaten Heavyweights

Chicago based Malachy Farrell (15-0, 12KOs), an undefeated Irish-American heavyweight who also works as a correctional officer at the Cook County jail, will be arriving in the Atlantic City area this Wednesday. Farrell will be taking on another undefeated prospect-Mike Marrone (17-0, 13KOs).

“I’ve had a long time to prepare for this bout, and I’m in the best shape of my life” said Farrell. “I’ve worked with some big heavyweights to work on my power, and lighter guys to work on speed, and even a few amateur fighters because they attack you in different ways.”

“I’ve watched a few of Marrone’s fights. He’s a good fighter, but he’s there to be hit” said Farrell. “When I started boxing I weighed about 150lbs and I’ve grown into a heavyweight. I’ve kept much of my speed and movement. I’m going to outwork this guy”

The Malachy Farrell v. Mike Marrone bout will also be televised on ShoBox. Both fighters will be in attendence at the April 19th, 12:00pm Press Luncheon at Bally’s.
